2021 Theme

The footer of each post looks bad without any form of separation between it and the post other than spacing. Even a 1 pixel border or a different background color would make a world of difference.

The new theme feels lighter and loads faster or is it just my imagination? I feel the old theme had too much CSS which made the experience laggy sometimes, this one looks simpler and performs faster.

My only nitpick is colors. Just make everything use the same colors as before as much as possible (you are already 90% of the way there). If you miss the old font size functionality just press Ctrl-+ in your webrowser.

Also I hope you're documenting your modifications separately from whatever base theme you used for this.

EDIT: I think I know why the new dark theme looks "lighter" despite using the same colors mostly.
It's missing the subtle drop shadow around every post.

But the drop shadow is already being used in some places in the new theme.

EDIT: Null addressed the shadow nitpick! Incredibly based.

Much better this time around.

I'm going to reiterate some things others have pointed out which also bug me:
1) Page numbering elements being twice the height of previously.
2) Reactions placement with regards to the report button. The suggested line between element which contains report quote reply and like, and the reactions proper seems like the best solution, and if the reactions could find their way into the post body like the old theme that would be ideal.
3) Notification number background being orange again would be nice.

-I haven't seen anyone mention this, but it'd be nice if usernames in next to posts could be bolded as they were in the old theme.
-Also some dark 2021 theme clickable elements use a font color which blends into the background near completely.

There's a "your account" in there somewhere.

For this, the selected category under "new posts" is what melts into the background.

I actually like this go-around of dark theme. My nitpicks are that Forum Discussion should be above the title of the thread and the spacing should be more generous between the random quote and the rest of the forum thread details.Screenshot_20201230-160225_Brave.jpg
Spacing also needs to be more generous between the news box, the random quote, and the forum header. Just so the news box has more oomph. Screenshot_20201230-163140_Brave.jpg
Maybe shrink the thread box a bit to line it up with the news box margins? But there really needs to be more space is all.

And the icons suck but I assume you have plans for those.

(The med-light gray text for "threads", "messages", "3 min ago" etc should be a little lighter too. It's hard to read on a bad screen.)

I have my gradiences ready. Please make highlights green again, it blends in too well grey on grey. Also, the site logo at the top is way bigger now and adds a lot of extra space at the top, it could be smaller like it was. Other than that it's good, but my text is generally too small now and zooming my browser shifts things out of whack.

The 2021 Dark theme looks really good to me on Win10/Chrome. There were a little bit of initial formatting issues but Change Width fixed everything easily. I tried the Light version of the theme and liked that one too.

Personally find this new design fits better for mobile than PC. Layout for phone, text size, etc feels just right for phone and feels weird for PC. Things aren't where I'm used to with the old layout though that's something that we will get used to. Also think that the posts could be wider? There is a lot of space that could be used so that text isn't bunched up and it can be read in full. Here is what I mean.

New

Same post, same window width, can't read it all without needing to scroll. On phone, this isn't an issue, posts fill the full screen. On PC, it feels like 1/3rd of the screen is empty/background space that could be used for posts.

I am on mobile and the font is a bit too small. But I won’t complain, just letting you know.

One thing missing that I use when bored is the new posts button on the home page.

Oh, there is a problem: multiple image attachments on one post make the new theme run like molasses. Don't know why.

I was browsing some random threads and noticed what I'm pretty sure is the behavior you are describing, and found the Charlie Gold thread to consistently chug to the point of unusability on the page with the OP.

I swapped to the old KF theme just to confirm that the theme was responsible, old Dark theme caused the 1st page of that thread to open and be browse-able without issues.

sometimes when you're browsing a thread using the highlight feature, when the OP replies, it shows a "Thread Starter" tag and it shifts the highlight arrows away from where your cursor was

Yeah, only major suggestion is I'd just up the contrast on the light grey font on dark grey backgrounds, like on the page number links and subforum descriptions on the front page. Make the text a little lighter and it'd be easier to read.

The notification thing for new posts in subscribed threads and replies/reactions to your posts could be more noticeable too.

On a 1080p monitor, when I move the browser to half the screen, the side margins end up taking nearly a third of the browser.
Can you remove the side margins (or drastically reduce them) when the browser width goes below 1920/2

Only real issues that could be fixed this go around:

- The logo and subsequent dropdown menus are way too close together and leaves a bunch of empty space for not reason.
- When hovering over text in the What's New section, the hover-over color is so dark that it fades into the background. I know the dark text on buttons and whatnot has already been brought up, but it's especially bad there.
- Title, profile, and other header text isn't bolded and makes it a pain in the ass to read, as it blends in with all the subtitles. profile subtitles, etc.

Any other problems I had have been pointed out already.

Other than that this is so much better than the last go-around! Everything loads a bit faster, the new features like the quickswitch to light and dark themes is nice, and I just love the updated sleeker look the site has.
