It sounds like he already wrote his story and is just doing this as a formality.
This is how it's usually done these days.

Flashes of Joe Bernstein.

most of the questions he can answer himself if he read the threads.
he's basically just asking you to chew it out for him like all journo's do.

Or a retarded newfag who goes into the CWC thread and asks for a quick summary.

Loads of mundane questions already anwsered before in loads of places, a bunch of completly irrelevant shit, some questions litertally asked twice... It is all so tiresome... Why would this retard even bother contacting Null for such stupid non-reporting? Like everyone said this is quite obviously a attempt to both cover his ass and claim he "reached out for comment" and to try and fling some mud Null's way.

It's pretty sad.

Wish the next journo would ask if your dick still works.
I have about two dozen other questions I'd like to see Ali ask Null:

- What's with the banana peppers?
- Is it true that you're not actually human and that you're a cartoon dog with excessive slobber?
- What's the minimum weight requirement for your future waifu?

The questions make it seem like it's going to be a more of a direct attack on Null than the previous campaigns from the Mean Girls Blog Squad, partly in retaliation for a couple of their ranks (Taylor Lorenz and Ben Collins) having their own lolcow threads. Basically a hitpiece so transparently hypocritical and vindictive the usual suspects had to farm it out to one of their buddies at Mother Jones because WaPo and NBC wouldn't publish it. And lol at the Something Awful question when numerous "progressive" writers have "ironic" FYAD post histories indistinguishable from anything on /pol/.

"Have you considered crowdfunding the purchase of your own island and becoming your own nation?"

Seems like it to me.

What's the over-under on Ali Breland getting his own lolcow thread?

His bio is extremely ironic.

Ali Breland is a reporter at Mother Jones covering internet disinformation.
My Gell-Mann Amnesia detector has been tuned to the point that whenever I see a "journalist" covering internet culture I assume they're sensationalizing the story for clicks, or outright lying for clout and ideological points with their scummy peers.

At this point, whenever I see a journalist call themselves a "disinformation specialist" or "covering internet disinformation" then I KNOW they are an ideological actor lying for clout with their scummy peers.

"disinformation specialist" = "opinion writer trying to play an 'I win' card for internet arguments"

Speaking of research... looks like Ali Breland graduated from UT Austin in 2014 with a B.A. in Plan II and minors in English and Philosophy, having previously studied at Bogazici University in Istanbul. He has written op-eds for CNN.com, The Huffington Post, and The Christian Science Monitor, among others on topics ranging from gun control, to the Turkish protests. (A)

He earned his own puff piece in 2018 (A), with an interview in podcast form so you can enjoy his voice for yourself.

Oh, a UT Austin alum. Honor's student from field of "general bullshit" from the looks of things. (A) Wikipedia has an interesting writeup of the program. (A) I love the bumper sticker zingers in the article, "I don't have a major, but I Plan II.", or "Plan II. Plan II do what?"

According to the links above, you can exit the program with a dual major from the College of Liberal Arts or College of Natural Sciences... or, I'm guessing a dual minor if you slack off. Based on what I'm reading, it's a pretty good program if you plan to go on to further higher education for a practical graduate degree (e.g., MBA, law degree, etc.).

Prestigious enough to get your foot in the door at places, but based on what I've heard, (and this poorly sourced clickbait article) enrollee's tend to have a particular attitude about them.

Seems like it to me.

Aside from this upcoming hit-piece, he seems pretty boring. Scummy journalists are a dime a dozen, so lets look over his Twitter for redicu-- ugh.

Oh ffs, invoking "gonzo journalism" and the "combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell" while writing a thunk piece about a coffee shop in a bank building being a sign of "capitalism financialization gone too far!" Archive, because fuck giving this "too clever by a half" hack's work clicks. Attempts at observational humor aside, Hunter S. Thompson he is not.

Also, it's good to note, that his inability to research shines through here as well.

I wonder what twitter's "kill" count is, as a site, where people using similar metrics to those put forward against the entirety of KF. Although I bet journos would be more likely to entertain that question with musk at the helm

Scary thing is that "Mother Jones" as actually been cited by judges in court case decisions.

EDIT: There's a deleted 'abreland' reddit account too. Bet that's him, bet it'd be interesting to read the comments, but they've been deleted.
There is also a Wikipedia account with that username, where amusingly the user vandalized the page for Dan Brown, calling him the worst author in modern history. Although he did revert it shortly afterwards. How can we trust a journalist who would intentionally pollute Wikipedia with misinformation?

There are also a ton of hits for "abreland" in Sherlock, and I did not have a chance to go through the results, some of which are almost certainly false positives.

Something Hunter S. Thompson said perfectly describes him, though:
The press is a gang of cruel faggots. Journalism is not a profession or a trade. It is a cheap catch-all for fuckoffs and misfits—a false doorway to the backside of life, a filthy piss-ridden little hole nailed off by the building inspector, but just deep enough for a wino to curl up from the sidewalk and masturbate like a chimp in a zoo-cage.
Why he could have been thinking about Ali Breland personally!

Mother Jones has been doing hit pieces since at least 1977. Their Ford Pinto article has been cited, even among other journalists and academics, as an example of lying or generously contorting the truth to generate outrage and readership.

If they pulled this shit on Lee Iacocca, an industrial magnate, basically saying he willfully let people die for profit, poor Null doesn't stand a chance. He's right to not answer their questions. It's pointless.

Why is this flesh that hates allowed to work who is his boss I'm literally shaking and crying rn I feel so unsafe this is genocide don't they know that the Holocaust?

I mean journalists can if they could be bothered deduce things from forum posts. But when writing an article about someone they need to give that someone a chance to respond to queries directly. This is a basic journalistic staple. Now, this guy clearly has no real intention of writing an unbiased panorama of what Kiwifarms is and how it operates or truly who Null is.
Null on the other hand has in the past conceded to interviews to sympathetic figures on podcasts and what not and is more than able to explain himself and form his own narrative.

But I do wonder if he'd accept to be interviewed in a serious manner by a neutral or at least not openly antagonistic serious journalist that would grill him on some of these things. It could be both good and bad.
I also think that the site and the way it operates has changed as we've all matured and as the world has changed around us. So it does create a bit of a disjointedness there for sure, for someone looking in from the outside.

Oh yeah, for sure. And while in the 80's and 90's it was a progressive vanguard of sorts, from the late 10's , ever since Trump became elected it became an instrument of the DNC to do nothing more than attack its political opponents. I used to read the magazine a bit because I loved its photojournalism (it had a section each month with a fantastic expose of say american life in small dying towns or nature pictures from around the globe, no writing so no bullshit narrative) and it could do in-depth groundhog type of journalism like this: https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2007/08/school-shock/ Deep research, undercover, interviews across the board, etc.

But those days are over, and sending a fucking list of obvious hit-piece questions is what counts as fulfilling your journalistic duty nowdays, apparently.

Such a massive red flag. This "reporter" is 100% clueless.
