With the types of lunatic rulings routinely occurring in the Greer case (seemingly solely due to Greer's status as a pro se litigant), I'm not sure I'd trust any intervention in this case to work out appropriately, regardless of the unconstitutionality of the settlement. Do you really think a California court would handle dumbfuck pro se litigants better than the court in the Greer case?

Null abolishing slavery for a 2nd time in US history is a great use of the money, free Jarrod Jones from his chains.

I vote nah.
While I agree that this is a shit outcome that indeed effects all of us on the site, going against him sets a precedent that Lolcow LLC can be coerced into instigating legal challenges for other parties, which would be an open invitation for people like Patrick Tomlinson or Greer to start doing similar things to waste up all the money in the legal fund

This settlement, without exaggeration, forms an indentured servitude contract with Jarrod Jones and Stebbins, which is not permitted under the 13th Amendment because he has not been convicted of any crime.
This sounds like the plot of a shitty sitcom.

PS: the "if he ever got a job" part gave me a good lol.

If the only way to file is in a California court, then hard NO. @Null, you will get 0 justice there and it's absolutely not worth bothering.

EDIT: I endorse another round of fundraising, to which I will donate to.

I really want to vote yes, but I feel like the other cases are much more important and this could seriously impact them.(look how fucking long Greer has taken and I can't even imagine the cost)

Maybe if one or two of those cases clear up suddenly in the forum's favor, but at the moment, I regretfully have to vote no.

I like the idea of fighting for what's right. However.... The litigation would cost more than what it would take to just pay the settlement on Jone's behalf. That would also declaw Stebbins if I'm reading that last page correctly. But then they're just getting your free money....

Tough call. Ask Harkin about this settlement language - that agent nonsense seems weird. I, as a non-attorney, could not represent Null just because Null made me his designated bitch. I don't think it works that way, settlement or not. I can't go file DMCA on some song I hear in a random youtube video if it's not my song, right? I'm not involved, not damaged, doesn't concern me.

It's like trying to sue on behalf of someone else - you can't really do that unless you're the attorney or you're directly involved somehow.
