Some aspects of this law make sense. If you want to buy a jazz mag in the UK you need to verify you are over 18. I’m quite comfortable with porn sites having this restriction.

But natch, it’s massive overreach and deliberately so. It’s a Trojan horse because a few nippers topped themselves after looking at degeneracy on the internet. So, instead of asking parents to “curate” the online activities of their offspring, the government steps “In loco parentis” to do it for them.
Massively helpful for a government in fear of its own populace.

And it was first formulated by the Tories.

Speaking as someone unfortunate enough to be stuck in the UK, the OSA is complete bullshit. The government claims they're doing this to protect the children, but in reality, it's a massive overreach, with its ostensible reason for being as nothing more than a cover for the government to censor anything and everything they don't like - which is pretty much anything that doesn't completely glaze them! Keep fighting the good fight; it seems that Labour is perfectly content jamming their fingers in their ears and claiming everything is fine in spite of the vast amount of criticism this stupid act is receiving.
