IAEA who? It's not like the IAEA published a resolution two days ago calling out the Iranian regime for being actively non-compliant with their non-proliferation obligations and actively hindering monitoring of their nuclear programme? The "provocation" in this instance would be the continued defiance of the Iranian regime in pursuing nuclear weapons followed by the Iranian response that they'd open up a new nuclear fuel enrichment facility.

The IAEA calling out Iran's delinquency on its NPT duties gives enough political cover for Israel to justify making a move in a form that's palatable to Israel's western backers - it's an open secret that Iran's pursuing nukes after all.

how will the war work in practice when both sides cant actually land any direct invading forces to each other's territory, is this just going to be exchanging missiles and air strikes?

the argument is very simple. i'm neutral/ambivalent towards jews, i'm hostile towards muslims. when a neutral party attacks an enemy of mine, i have no problem with that.

~400,000 american vehicles from jeeps to heavy trucks
~13,000 tanks
~135,000 american machine guns
~53% of the ammunition (bullets, shells, mines, other asplodeys) russia used in the war
thousands of artillery pieces (records for this are shit so a semi-accurate number isn't known)
in total ~18 million tons of various supplies including almost 5 million tons of food

If Iran didn't make a point of executing their intellectual community; or forcing them to flee, they might have had the brains on hand to actually develop a plausible threat to the International Community. I don't have a horse in this race, but I sure would prefer to see it be competitive rather than a push-over for one side.
