Turns out I'm apparently 2.8% neanderthal, and my maternal haplogroup is Amerindian and my paternal is European/Near Eastern. Which is no surprise.

Given the amount of interbreeding during the Migration period, I think most of us share bits of DNA from different parts of Europe. So it should be of no surprise. The fact that I have a lot of Irish DNA tells me the Norwegian bits make sense. The Vikings knocked up a lot of Irishwomen.

Well that's more native American than my measly 0.5%! Though seeing that 9.7% "Unassigned" is really disappointing. I do hope they figure out what that "Unassigned" really is...

It costs $99 and about $15 shipping and and handling. If it makes you feel any better the more people who sign up, the more accurate the service becomes! Even though the health reports aren't available right now the ancestry part is helpful for discovering relatives and ancestry composition.
