I know i'm beating a dead horse in to oblivion here but it never seizes to amaze me how hung up Chris is on stuff that happened 10.000 years ago.

Whats next, the high school reunion thing again? Owing that dance to that special lady?

Wait. But he did say in his original letter that is was because of his true love ( NOT to be confused with the act of intercourse ). Who could take that apology as anything other than sincere

I think Chris means to say that the store's employees didn't have sufficient grounds to call the police. Perhaps Chris was trying to think of "unjustly" or "unjustified"?
