I like /v/ for the odd tomb raider or other such old game thread that gets some discussion going, but other than that, jesus christ it's nothing but bait and reddit submissions. You can find people of 4chan quality in literally any other game almost down to hating niggers, yet people flock to that place still. It's worse than doomscrolling.

Never understood this whole waifu phenomenon and I'm a forever virgin loser who occasionally watches anime. Sure, one can post such pics as a fun tradition ironically, but the dedication and amount of merch these guys have of their waifus tells me they're at least partially serious. I could never delude myself like that and I suspect if I were to attempt to do so, I'd just find myself even more miserable than before. I haven’t used 4chan since like 2022, but the last time I did, it felt like it was just a bunch of federal agents and/or chatbots conversing back and forth with each other with no real substance, or spammers. The last board I tried using was /sp/, and the only threads I tried to use were filled with the same 3 people shitting then up all day.

It’s a dead site at this point. It was a dead site when I last used it. Yes, it’s still running and people post there, but is there any reason for a new user to go on 4chan? What value do you get from posting on there? What makes it anything more than an anonymous, worse version of Reddit? Does anybody still talk about what’s going on in 4chan threads? Even “le epic greentext may mays” have been dead in the mainstream consciousness for years now.

The internet is exhausting to use nowadays for many reasons, and 4chan embodies a lot of them. Every board is filled with pseudo intellectuals, overzealous jannies, porn, brain dead discussion of US politics, spammers, and coal. So much coal.

Whenever I get sick of 4chan and try using Reddit, I always go back to 4chan because Reddit has all of 4chan's flaws but worse. The lack of substance gets rewarded via votes, which makes posts spiral into even less substance, and while 4chan has lots of arguments, Reddit is an echo chamber where nothing changes. As schizophrenic as /lg/ might be, it's at least funny while r/lego is boring. Twitter is even worse because it rewards both 4chan's arguing and Reddit's lack of substance, so you get the most braindead idiocy ever. Just use forums and oldfag sites if you want to use the internet at this point.

I haven't touched reddit since since some mod hit me with a temp ban on the Dark Souls 3 sub of all places a couple of years before Elden Ring launched.
There were a couple of tards there that absolutely refused to believe hax on consoles existed. I ended up putting together a compilation of save editor kiddies I had ran into while invading. Some of these dated back to DS2 DS1 and Demon Souls on the PS3.
After going back and forward with them a bit they were doubling down with all sorts of cope.
It's lag.
It's latency.
It's desynce.
I had to point out the 6 digit amount of damage on the dudes I gravity killed + guys swinging UGS literally 16 times in a row.
I got some support from Randoms for a couple days. Then I get bombed with down votes. A day or so later the tread gets deleted and I get Barred from posting for "naming and shaming".
That was some salty bitch shenanigans on their end.

It's always funny going through leddit only to see the exact posts reappear in /vg/ generals or just /v/. It literally is reddit but somehow both more niche and worse. I once asked a wow guild mate "would you rather go onto r/wow and look at the first 3 posts to see if a patch has dropped, or go onto vg, find the wowg, scroll to the bottom, see porn, scroll back up trying to find a post implying there has been a patch?". It really just is a sunk cost fallacy breeding grounds now.
