Not really related but recently I had my Truman Show experience with Indians online and I need to share it.
I was watching a video on Youtube about the history of DMA Design, it had interviews with original developers that worked on Lemmings and Body Harvest and the original GTA, and talked about the management fuckery and failed deals with Nintendo that led to the Take-Two buyout and being reformed into Rockstar North.
Every other comment on that video was a variation of

it was always a shit hole, sure the specific flavor of the shit may have changed over time but at its core its still mostly the same thing and the same place.

As someone said, the good thing is gookmoot didn't fuck with the site much, the bad thing is gookmoot didn't fuck with the site much. This resulted in janitors taking over, or chronically being asleep.

All he ever had to do was modernize the site. There were plug-and-play imageboard backends sitting out in the open, but somehow he stuck with the same rotting PHP spaghetti for years. At least he finally got his Coursera cybersecurity certificate. Maybe now he understands what a port is.

Because it's a smoking gun to a conspiracy and fear many of us have had; that the site was basically just being ran like edgier Reddit.
Not only had the quality of the site and it's users tanked, all the fears of bots, shills, janny cabals and inner circles have all been confirmed. Alot of people outside of desperate addicts aren't going to want to deal with that shit.
