Lately I happened to visit the site on a browser without an adblocker few times (yeah, inb4...) and wtf is up with those "meme ads"? Are they parody? Are they for real stuff??
I think anyone can pay whatever it costs to set up an ad just for shitposting purposes, it was done to fuck with /v/ a lot, it seems to bring income for the site to have a bunch of retards with expendable incomes pay for an ad just for le epic maymay!

About 60 bucks if I remember correctly, when shazamposters were reaching their peak with cyberpunk someone made a "I spent $60 on this ad, but not for cyberpunk" ad
It was pretty funny

There are now "self-serve" ads, I think they even existed during the moot era to some extent, some people chimped out, they're often used as a form of pay-to-troll.

Did 8chan have them? If not, this was a nice coincidence.

Not a bad idea to make some bucks from the site. And after digging it looks like they were implemented during the late moot era. I never payed attention to them so much then, the only ones I remember are the long gone j-list ads.

On January of 2019, an anonymous user posts on /tg/ to ask about limitations on magic systems. Some posts can be recognized as his through their terse and passive statements that show a limited vocabulary. Some "bump" posts are made, but his actual responses to others are fairly immediate. He makes a few more threads, becoming agitated from lack of thread activity.
Another thing to notice about this user is that he never uses inference skills, imagination, or a search engine. I still can't tell whether he gets a kick out of being spoonfed or is just that mentally deficient.

His first countermeasure against an early death is to just repost the thread until it kicks off, which kicks off this exchange. Greentexts are other anons, redtexts are by proto-Bumpfag.
>I feel like I'm having a stroke, didn't we have this exact thread a few days [accidentally posts early]...ago? maybe I am having a stroke.
>This exact thread starter, and one variant asking a similar question, has appeared on here several times in the last weeks.
>/tg/ has a few bots or very autistic posters that repost things. I've seen my comments posted with different pictures in different threads weeks after I originally wrote them.

<What if the person reposting the thread just didn't feel like their question was properly answered the first time?
>Then you add a new sentence at the end of your opening post typing "I asked this before but I'm not satisfied", instead of literal shitposting.
<Autism is NOT something that you should just throw around lightly.
>Said the autist. (Don't tell me what to do)
? How about we just focus on the actual discussion point of the thread.
(I'm not confident in this poster's identity, so I've marked it down as green by default)
This exchange, and some others in the thread, show both his perfidious and moralistic side.

There is also a lot of bumps in this thread, but he still responds whenever he can. Some more threads are made and die uneventfully. Over here he snaps at two posters for saying bad words. then someone tries breaking it to him that his usual behavior is annoying, seemingly not getting the hint across. He then gets the idea to start asking for information that he already has, to the point of making self-answering questions, in a digression about Granblue Fantasy. The thread ends with someone calling him out so many dumb posts, and possibly a confirmation that he's using multiple devices. During this time period he starts exclusively posting when the thread's on the verge of death, also in other people's threads, here's some of his famous tripleposting. And I think he's talking to himself here. He is now fully the Bumpfag.

This thread is just embarrassing.

I recently started using this file cataloguing program called Hydrus Network. It's written by an anon and specifically designed for imageboard users with large image collections - it's essentially like a local booru.

I'm going through the process of slowly tagging a couple thousand screenshots that I've collected or put together myself over the past decade or so. (You can sync to a public tag repository that compares your local files against the checksums of those that other users have already tagged and synced, but I'm doing it manually so I can review what I actually have.) Here's what the tag browser pane looks like after tagging around 300 files.

As I go through my files, I'm going to post some images that I didn't see in this thread yet. Here's a randomly selected one from the completed folder.

Another reason to call this user "Bumpfag" is his fetishistic fascination with pregnancy. My first assumption about it was that he went to this general thread for Maiesta (which @Adamska might find worthy of a Dice Scum episode), posted this disgusted reaction, and warmed up when it woke something of inside him. But there's clear hallmarks of his activity in this pregnancy thread, right as he's beginning his reign of terror. This makes me revisit my theory that Bumpfag was corrupted by 4chan, I now think that he's always been a fetishist. Users of /tg/ eventually notice that he's performing necromancy on a large amount of cartoon and magic system threads, and try to discuss it in a /qa/ thread, which dies uneventfully. It's noticed again in June, and then "Bumpfag" is coined in August. I make various images and PDFs to try spreading awareness, it doesn't work terribly well.

The Bumpfag is a lover of deception, mostly by omission (of course both you and yourself would like to know something), his counterfactual statements are limited to claiming total ignorance of a subject so that he can hear about it all over again. This means that /tg/ users should be cautious even inside a good faith worldbuilding thread, lest they get baited into wasting their time on his spoonfeeding addiction. This is malicious behavior.

Here's my compiled information on Bumpfag:
  • Age: Between 10 and 18, probably closer to 14 by now? He is very interested in works targeted at that age bracket, more on that in his media tastes section. Faked ignorance of the age requirement.
    • He doesn't seem to have lurked on any other websites beforehand, keeping him from learning the most rudimentary board etiquette. Starting on 4channel of all places would have happened for two reasons, the first is that it wouldn't require him to sign up with an email address. The second is that Feb 2019 was less than half a year after the 4channel split, which was done so that the blue boards weren't automatically banned by anti-pornography policies, and a new domain would mean that it wouldn't have been blacklisted yet by public networks such as school ones.
  • Sexuality and gender: Heterosexual male. Gay autists never shut up about being gay. Displays no attraction to men. Displays attraction to women through his "contributions" to shortstack and pregnancy threads.
  • Religious/Political beliefs: Nondenominational/Protestant liberal Christian He's been baited into mentioning his Christian religion before, yet acted quite "modern" about transgender people. He doesn't care at all about the interdenominational flame wars, but is certainly American.
  • Media Tastes: Bumpfag embodies this satire of Sanderson readers, except he does not read.
    • His only discussion of Cosmere and Discworld material is their worldbuilding instead of characters or events, despite both series being notoriously accessible to readers. The only Terry Pratchett property which he ever indicated viewing was Amazon's adaptation of Good Omens.
    • This segues into mentioning his preferences in television. He is very eager to turn /tg/ into a /co/lony by sustaining off-topic Steven Universe, Owl House, Dragon Prince, and Wakfu discussion. Rose Quartz's fatal pregnancy in SU was probably the source of his maiesiophilia.
    • He watches entry level shounen such as Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and Fate/Stay Night. He doesn't demonstrate any interest in more cerebral or restrained works of Japanese fiction.
    • I have never seen him post any /tg/-related documents that he didn't get from off of /tg/, all of which were vehicles for complicated magic systems. This indicates that grifting off of /tg/ is more-or-less his only interaction with actual tabletop games.
  • Psychology: You've already clued into him being some sort of autist through the hyperfixation and habitual behavior aspect. I should also mention that he scripts like described in this post about dev-catscratch. He defaults to a begging tone, which suggests to me that most of his social interactions were with authority figures, or peers when absolutely necessary. I'm too pissed at his grifting to care about how sad that is. Questions of his are nearly snowclones [1] [2] [3] [4] [5].
