If 4chan ever went down for real it would be a retard exodus on the level of tumbler banning porn, an event so significant that most modern problems on the internet can be directly traced back to it. Well I may not know how much of a impact something like that can make today I doubt it will ever be allowed to go down by anyone who can stop it.
Unfortunately most 4channers have already departed for other places, either abandoning the Internet entirely or, in some cases, going woke themselves, or in the best cases, shitting up other shitty platforms in revenge. I bet most of 4chan now is people who were purged in those other events, either redditors or tumblrinas or from shit like ifunny and 9gag.
Its already a fed botnet on the level of reddit and discord as most of the actual posters were either driven off or banned at random.
Yeah and feds too.

I've noticed on a domain lookup site that the 4chan.org domain will expire on Valentine's Day:

Thing is, I see no one on the site talking about this on any board, and not even on the 4chan thread on KF or Twitter, either. Everything seems like business as usual. Forgive me for my tech ignorance, but is it set to auto-renew on the expiration date?
Hard to say... The clock is ticking. If it really did expire im sure there is a number of people who are waiting to take over the domain. If it really goes down for that reason, that would be the gayest and saddest end to that retard accelerator. It will never regain it's former glory

I noticed that the other site, 4channel, had its domain renewed in February of last year, and it's set to expire later this year. September I think. Maybe we'll just have to wait until February this year and see.

EDIT: Just checked; September it is.

If that happened it would be gookmoot's most colossal fuckup to date.

The biggest problem with 4chan is the moderation, too many ban-happy janitors that hide in the shadows ready to enforce uneven rules or purge interesting threads and then get away with it due to anonymity.

This was a core problem back in 2014 with Gamergate but it seems like the problem is getting worse by the year.

Anon notices so much change and decadence went into being degenerated into something that he does not recognize anymore:

Worksafe GIF is infinitely better for that reason. Unless you want porn or gore then theres genuinely no point going anymore. Im also convinced its under constant bot posting due to constantly repeated posts.
/wsg/ its the same threads and post, over and over again but occasionally there are some good ones. Also at least there sounds webms.

For a Friday night, I've noticed 4chan has been incredibly slow--not in the "loading" sense but threads don't move nearly as fast as they used to. There's a thread close to the bump limit with an AI-generated anime girl that's made from the Jeff the Killer picture...but it's been up since 4 in the morning. And that's /v/! On other boards, things can linger for weeks.

Don't know what that could be, but the site, both 4chan and 4channel, are now accepting janny applications:

Boards I look at commonly, like /pol/ or /lit/ or others seem to be moving at normal pace. I don't really ever go on /v/, so I can't give you any advice/help there. New jannies being brought on board make me think that the domain registration might be renewed soon, like this announcement doesn't strike me as the behavior of site that's preparing to shut its doors.

Janny application is pretty routine.

I also can't imagine that the second the site expires, Chinese spammers will scoop it up for pennies on the dollar. At worst I see the domain name get parked for 48 hours, which would cause chaos and probably some decreased traffic when it comes back online but nothing earth-shattering.

Gentlemen, I regret to inform you that my shitposting days are over. 4chan has finally banned my ip range. After years of torturing the jannies on /v/, I got bored and decided to shitpost on /lgbt/. It only took two ban evades for them to go nuclear and ban my entire ip range from the site.

Might depend on the board; I've never had that problem on say /lit/ or /wsr/. /b/ might be a different story.
I'm thinking it has slowed down significantly.
/pol/ has moved at a snail's pace for weeks now. But there's also a LOT of sliding going on. If you look at the catalogue and posts/thread.
75% of it is b8 threads with under 30 replies.
But I've also noticed that there are all day threads and even threads that run for 2 and sometimes 3 days.
Same thing over on /b/ /soc/ /tg/ /gif/ /fit/

Yeah they banned my IP range for a solid 2+ years. It got lifted around 6 months ago maybe? When I say that they banned the entire range I'm talking about multiple whole cities around the area. One VERY major US city included due to "abuse".
They wouldn't elaborate or respond to any questions about it.
Mobile posting was fine as well as connecting to mobile hotspot.
It was still pretty annoying though.
I'm just wondering if they range banned you due to spam bots being in or around your area.
In my instance it was a whole ass ISP area ban that happened to pretty much have a monopoly in the area.
Going through a different ISP worked just fine and dandy.
Range bans are pretty much a nuclear missile option for a small problem.
It screws over 99 people to get 1.

I also got permabanned a while ago but I can still post with my phone's internet. I feel dirty being forced into phoneposting, but that's better than nothing.

My entire country was banned from 4chan years ago, well, technically just the main ISP but thats like 90% of users so might as well. They lifted the ban maybe a couple years ago i think then banned the ISP again, i am not sure whats the situation now, i don't really post on 4chan anymore. I can believe one single autist spammed so much it got an entire country banned, don't doubt for a second thats exactly what happened, IPs are dinamic so one dedicated mongoloid would be hard to get rid off for long.

Idk how making one singular on topic post in /vg/ consistutes “IP range abuse” while discordniggers are spamming touhou memes in an unrelated thread.

Discordniggers truly are a blight upon this world.
