Pixel artstyle, easily fappable waifu characters, Dark Souls style difficulty.
I actually really like both pixel artstyle and DS difficulty, and roguelikes/roguelites in general. I still only buy something like one or two games a year, almost always on discount because it's against my religion to pay retail.

Anyone remember the Rare Pepes meme? I think it was that (one of) the last 4chan-esque memes, and I honestly think it was genuine art that provides a dumb(?) kind of commentary on infinitely reproducible goods like computer files having monetary value, especially now there actually exists a fucking rare pepe nft market and prescient view of "memes" that they've become now, infinite variations on the same tired thing (wojaks and pepes).

Like others have said, 4chan now is no different from the rest of the internet apart being able to say nigger and faggot (but you can't insult trannies for obvious reasons)

Platinum RGB Pepe.gif

it's still used on a few enclosed chans but most of the culture has been butchered to be swapped with polposting living rent free on jannies heads.

How profitable can 4chan be? With that reputation the site seems more useful for Below the Line campaigns and guerrilla marketing rather than traditional upfront advertising but the people doing that sort of stuff don't necessarily have to pay anyone just to astroturf their product on the site. Crypto scammers and Indie game devs have actually been fairly succesful spamming their own bullshit in there.
Pretty sure the real money isn't in those bullshit malicious ads that are barely above the level of the shit you saw on ED when that retard junkie ran it. gookmoot is harvesting and selling data to shady characters who can use it somehow, which is why they've increasingly banned anything resembling a VPN and without putting more effort into it than it's worth, you basically can't be actually anonymous there any more.

4chan will never improve until that gook is jailed and has to sell it to pay his lawyer bills, or the tax authorities he cheated, and probably won't improve even then because the only people who would even buy 4chan at a desperate discount price are probably even shadier than that slanty-eyed nip who might as well have a yarmulke and a huge beard and be rubbing his hands together with glee like in an A. Wyatt Mann cartoon.

It's really weird because half of the 4chan janny pozzing isn't even political. Seaniggers have also managed to worm their way into /vt/ and other anime-adjacent boards. Depending on the hour of day, even implying that a shitty bait thread was written by a SEA will land you a 3-day.
It's all so tiresome. Even the DBS powerlevelfags doesn't have pocket jannies aggressively patrolling the board for posts to ban.

Yeah, there's an infestation of them on every board. It's fun to make them mad and their ESL goes haywire.

not really no, it's clear that a new janny is trying to enforce this shit with the blessing of faggot mods, it's known that RapeApe still seethes at /pol/ to this day for some retarded unpaid reason, whenever you bait those trannoid faggots again, use this screencap:

Would you much better informed people say 4chan got worse or is that just a meme (ie ‘you just grew up’)?
It most certainly got worse after I left. Everyone I know who was interested in technology eventually stopped using /g/ and started posting elsewhere, as an example. Why bother trying to make a board better if the staff don't care? This ties into what was mentioned earlier about schizophrenic crusades: There are multiple boards, if not every board, where some absolute idiot harrasses a general for years, and nothing gets done about it beyond the most token effort; eventually, people may start posting on an alternative imageboard that covers the same topic, watch the idiot find it only to get banned and stay banned effortlessly, and wonder what the fuck the staff over at 4chan are doing.

The best thing I can write about 4chan is that it works as a filter for every other imageboard. This is also a bad thing, however, since there are certain topics that stay on 4chan with staff who hate them, rather than move to other imageboards. We see this with /mlp/ as an example.

Take it from a guy that regularly clowns on backwater imageboards, for every 8chan spinoff or 7chan "it exists" sort of imageboard there's 10 to 12 or more IBs being ran by schizo pedophiles or junkies (re: patchchans). Asking people to abandon ship on their boards on 4chan runs the risk of just driving everyone away on both ends since there's the chance that the staff of the new site fall into the schizo pedo category more than even the "yea" 7chan kind.

It sure is something that 4chan can’t escape Der Pedo.

I don't want to reveal my power level, but it suffices to write that I disagree. Now, without doubt, there are a lot of bad imageboards; anyone who uses alternative imageboards for even a short amount of time will see shilling for some new imageboard with a /b/ board and nothing else, by idiots who have automated the posting and found imageboards.json. However, there are plenty of good options for those who don't want to use 4chan; I use many healthy alternative imageboards for specialized topics.

I also know that accusations of pedophilia or trannydom are just as often made because the staff did something someone dislikes, or even as a protective measure. Some people don't want 4chan users to migrate, so they never bother to correct such accusations, or may even make the accusations by themselves.

I want to shift to a related topic: Anyone who uses alternative imageboards for even a short amount of time will see child pornography spam which is completely automated, targets several imageboards at exactly the same time, and links to domains on the clearnet. Isn't that odd? Why would that happen? Wouldn't pedophiles want to remain hidden? I believe it to be obviously the work of federal agents. It's well-known child pornography is used as a weapon, and spamming it gives them an excuse to target alternative imageboards that lack good moderation. As we saw with 8chan, they'll use any method to control or kill an imageboard that grows large enough.

I've been reminded of this image and, while I don't agree with everything he wrote, I agree with most of it. There's worth in posting it here:

Think of 4chan as reddit. Except no one can see exactly who is posting what. So outside actors are free to guide discussion more easily. Canvassing 4chan is probably part of a typical Marketing/PR Firm deal. Along with reddit, Twitter, wikipedia, Facebook. I've gone on /tv/ and found people discussing a popular actor/actress, and then someone brought up a recent scandal. Boom, thread gone. On /v/ occasionally people have dug into jobs in videogames and found listings either in big gaming companies or marketing firms, for "social media marketer" or "Remote social media assistant" and the like. I think someone posted one time how they made a games marketer lose his shit while trying to do his job pushing a new game, and captured his meltdown. This must've been 10 years ago.

Of course, this is all just hearsay. But I doubt CNN is going to report that the major vectors of the internet steer and censor discussion.

I remember when /toy/ was on the verge of being nuked from 4chan because of LEGO being extremely butthurt over the new Bionacle lineup being leaked. That was the first time you've seen anons getting banned for "copyright infringement".

If you saw a thread about Val-11-halla when the game was coming out there was a 100% chance it was made by a member of the dev team. They spamed the ever living shit out of their own game on /v/ for weeks and 4chan still ate it up, because honestly, they always do. 4chan is aware that shills and astroturf exists, but posters are still naive enought to think only the posts they disagree with or don't like are made by shills, everything they agree with must be spontaneous.

The average anon craves validation and will go along with the crowd very easily.

That makes a lot of sense. The game itself was shit and the sequel is in perpetual Dev hell. Wasn't it supposed to have released way back in 2019?

Lmao. The dev collected a bunch of comments confused about it winning a past /v/ga (nobody played it) as if it was some sort of own.
Never understood why they'd shill it on /v/. It's this really creepy (sexually) vn where you talk to losers about their feelings. Not exactly channer material?
The developer of Super Troony Pony Animal RPG (same creepy "genre") also tried this so maybe 4/v/ has always been fucking crap?
The best thing about vallhalla was all the advertising for a far better game, YIIK.
