Cuckchan still being up has the most insane schizo theory behind it which is almost certainly true; which is that gook moot (Hiroyuki Nishimura) sells all your personal information to the feds while he feverishly masturbates to hentai in his cuckshed apartment in Paris which he can somehow afford despite the fact that his few assets produce less revenue than an illustrious career as a McDonald’s manager.

the go-to theory is the feds freeze it if they're really after some posters fast, which probably got turned into the leaked pictures of aliens or shit no one is supposed to see.

probably all fake, but otoh: imagine someone does leak some serious stuff, what do people expect to happen?

It's easy to wax conspiratorial about 4chan's outages in spite of its long-term survival but the hard reality is the site is built off of several incredibly fucked iterations of a fork of a reverse-engineered interpretation of the back-end for an old Japanese website before they had any concept of "competent IT" or "streamlined coding" as interpreted by a 15 year old nerd who liked jerking off to tentacle porn. Then add on the fact 4chan is almost 20 years old and develops some kind of controversy every month, at minimum on par with the shit that produces autistic vendettas comparable to Dong-Gone's hateboner for the Farms, meaning it's gonna be inundated with as many nonsensical attacks and forced technical issues purely to spite the users and the staff. And sometimes the spite isn't even out of actual malice, they just think it's funny.

It's gonna have hard crashes like this occasionally because even with better servers it's made of gum and string, we're just hearing less about it now because - again - the site's largely corporate now so you're not gonna get the same transparency as some guy working on it himself.

Doesn't help the devs and high-up mods/admins like RapeApe and Swaglord - who are among the most "communicative" of current 4chan staff - are intentionally very opaque which probably motivates the theories of conspiracy.

It's still a better platform than Twitter, reddit or pals and it doesn't require an account, something that's incredibly rare nowadays outside of niche chan clones. Most of them have worse moderation than 4chan or no population. Usually both. And as stated earlier they are usually for something much less general, won't last if when/if 4chans population jumps on them, or just become degen hives . Thus people are stuck with 4chan for their imageboard autism.

some boards still have some quality, even it became more rare. others are complete shit, normalfag boards like /v/ especially.

Just a bit before the "inline extension" update, 4chan was completely renovated and basically doesn't use any of Futallaby proper anymore, so no need for a credit. A bunch of random small changes I remember being slightly annoyed by occurred as a result, but I can't recall even half of them anymore. I know one of them was the reason why 4chanarchive (the original, where you had to vote for threads to be archived and thus only threads worth a shit got archived - frankly an excellent lurker/newfag tool) basically couldn't archive anything anymore and it subsequently died for other reasons.
