At one point /pol/ was a good place to get information on European politics. You’d have anons usually with a higher education and English speaking going there to vent.

I noticed though when Salvini and Lega had their successes that every decent thread on Italian politics started getting derailed by “Italian” posters ranting about Jews (which, whilst a /pol/ tradition was previously absent from these threads) and more importantly couldn’t answer posters who addressed them in Italian.

I have an honest tinfoil hat conspiracy theory that US and UK glowies are watching the rise of right wing populist, think 4chan is super important and influential because they watched a Vice documentary once, and we’re sabotaging discussion incase anyone else picked up wrong think.

I know most of the destruction of 4chan is trannies being trannies but this back then was very different.

Now hit me with the autism stickers.

It makes sense. Most of the newfags to 4chan come from the post 2016 election era and you can tell so because they never lurked before posting. They also don't know much about their respective board's history and culture, which has resulted in a globohomo chan style culture which is basocally just /pol/ on steroids. Trannies being the mods might be the final nail in the feds' coffin to really kill 4chan from the inside out. I can't imagine anyone that honestly wants to become a janny other than a literal fed or that one cuck on /g/ who had his gf leave him then get married to some dumb schmuck in DC.

That's the homogenization of the internet due to centralized lines of traffic babe. You legitimately get the same experience browsing twitter and reddit as you do 4chan these days. Its even harder to track the origin of memetics now since there's so much crossover traffic between sites that a casual analysis can't discern what exactly started where. It doesn't help either that a lot of 4chan culture has filtered out to the rest of the internet over the decades.
and its novel to think about how the more shit changes, the more shit stays the same. Project Chanology predicated the response and effect of Gamergate for example.
4chan fell from the internet bogeyman label because more and more people actually experienced 4chan outside of selective screencaps of LE EPIC WINS and LE HECKIN' NAZI shitposts. So all thats left is the memes that originate from 4chan and most of them are indiscernible from the bullshit you see everywhere else these days.

I'm rambling but the main point is 4chan isn't the center of internet culture let alone political culture and acting like there's a whole federal agency dedicated to seeding /pol/ with shit takes is asinine bullshit. I don't doubt that there's glowniggers on 4chan at all but I don't believe they have as much influence or presence as propaganda would like you to believe. Not to mention most shilling on 4chan comes from NGOs or internet randos themselves.

IIRC, it was specifically that all Google services were blocked wholesale in China, which included the Captcha service used by 4chan.
That's the explanation I saw on /pol/ a few years back, at least.
