It took me a long time to realize that, but the IB format is just bad and it should just die already, it is too easy for third parties to exploit it even more so in the age of chatGPT.

The anonymous imageboard model hinges on the quality of its staff, although this isn't unlike other forums. Unfortunately, the only known solution to the problem of spam and the like is proof-of-work.

Maybe what the Internet needs is more forums like Kiwi Farms.

This forum could be fucked over just as easily by neural network nonsense.

It's hard to tell if there really are bots or attempts at killing anon culture

At one point /pol/ was a good place to get information on European politics. You’d have anons usually with a higher education and English speaking going there to vent.

I noticed though when Salvini and Lega had their successes that every decent thread on Italian politics started getting derailed by “Italian” posters ranting about Jews (which, whilst a /pol/ tradition was previously absent from these threads) and more importantly couldn’t answer posters who addressed them in Italian.

I have an honest tinfoil hat conspiracy theory that US and UK glowies are watching the rise of right wing populist, think 4chan is super important and influential because they watched a Vice documentary once, and we’re sabotaging discussion incase anyone else picked up wrong think.

I know most of the destruction of 4chan is trannies being trannies but this back then was very different.

We are also entering an age where anons are just terminally porn sick giga coomer brainlets and it will just get worse from here. Maybe what the Internet needs is more forums like Kiwi Farms.

Generative models pose an extreme threat to anonymous posting, but they also do so to almost every account-based website. For example, it's pretty easy to find posts that were clearly written by ChatGPT-likes in certain Twitter reply chains, although I'm not sure what the motivation behind those is.

I kind of hope this pushes digital communication towards decentralized networks you only share with the people you want, at least then you could escape the online lumpenproletariat that infests everything now.

I think there is something to this, as a "late fag" (pandemic lurker, but was aware of most of the shit in the world due do "based" parents), as you described: "anons from the normie world would go in there and vent". Now, here is the thing, "normies" today can't really go back to reddit/twitter after seeing so many memes that makes them aware (a.k.a red pilling them) post 2015-2021. Many institutions are seeing a rise in their younger population either going whore/tranny own nothing mode or a complete rejection (natsoc TND mode). Had a few guys in my uni. gym falling for the pit viper meme, and another one doing groyper references at campus. After some incidents that I can't mention due to the autism on this site would figure out where I'm, the results were pretty much that my university had a very aggressive anti-hate speech campaign, obviously this shit went down the drain with the fortnite hamas operation in israel and I'm now staying away from all that. Institutions KNOWS that 4chan is the meme place now, it's not some underground internet knowledge anymore, you got normie professors making infographics on 4chan memes now.

It’s not a conspiracy theory that governments in the EU would go and try to derail sites like 4chan, since it really is the first site that a normie would go to when getting banned on reddit or are just curious. Since we know how internet providers and journalists handle kiwi farms and other alt. imageboards. it’s safe to say that 4chan is probably under information sabotage happening rather than deletion.
