It feels like there's more janitors than ever in 4chan's history. If you use any general thread, it's very common now for all of them to have a janitor who just sits in there 24/7 and uses it all day (and, of course, delete whatever they personally dislike)
I lurk the /ic/ board from time to time and there was a case of me posting my art in a relevant thread and having it removed by a janny with no explanation. I reposted and the same thing happened, I then brought it up and all my posts addressing it as well as other anons going "hey thats fucked up" were also removed. I then got banned for "violating rule 6" which apparently exists and reads "you may not disagree with a mod". That place is gayer than Reddit these days.

People who parrot this "4chan was unprofitable" thing get all their info from YouTube videos by nasally essayists.
It was unprofitable, or at least not profitable by much, when it was run by someone other than a thieving gook fugitive tax cheat who sold user information and outright malicious ads. Moot was only able to make enough to become actually somewhat rich by selling it to said gook.
Two possibilities exist:

1) Moot was a lying faggot
2) Famously shrewd and jewish Japanese executives bought 4chan out of pure charity, with no regard for financials, knowing they were taking on dead weight
3) you're fucking retarded

The lucrative treasure trove of 4chan user information

Guess that board is dead for a reason. Makes sense that the sharty GET steal was insta-404'd.

Isn't the only userdata 4chan collects IP addresses? What could you even do with that?
This world is made out of information at this point and it's definitely worth money. And people are paying for it, on (((Faceberg))) and other sites. Yeah on Faceberg it's definitely connected to actual identities but it isn't like it's THAT hard to turn IP data from 4chan into actionable intelligence either.

Yup, once you have the IP address, you have the approximate geographic area, and from there you get the demographic segments when you match against data from Experian or Claritas.

/co/ is such a shitty board. If you went there 3 months ago, took a hiatus and then just popped in today you would find the exact same threads with slightly different wording. Avatar threads are especially noticeable. The same exact "discussions", pictures and I think posters as the day both shows ended 15 years ago. I really don't know how these guys can stand the monotony.

it's called /co/mblr for a reason

I go onto /co/ for the first time in a little bit and in nearly every thread I clicked there is someone who is clearly from kiwifarms shitting up threads, why?

I abandoned /co/ and never looked back because you can tell in literally every thread that they do not give a shit about comics or cartoons, they just wanna circlejerk over whichever characters they find hot.

/co/ has been in a zombie state since late 2019.
The last time when /co/ was actually active was when SUfags were shitting it up with spinel and shit, it's been mostly dead since then with most of the "active" threads now either being story time threads or the daily culture war/east-vs-west thread.
