They didn't take over anything. Pedophiles have always been grossly overrepresented on imageboards. Even back in the day on /b/ it was a huge issue. They just became more obvious as places like 4chan started to die and more and more of the "normalish" people left making the schizophrenics, NEET's and pedophiles more obvious.

With less people to call them out, they also tried to re-write history that "Actually, 4chan was always a loli site and pedophilia IS board culture, you just wouldn't get it, normie!"
Same as with the trash that ruined 4chan and it's various boards now thinking they're "oldfags" and trying to tell people how the site is supposed to be run or crying that the board they helped ruined "isn't what it's used to be!" because it got a few % worse. All the stupid people who were laughed at on /v/ and thought they were in good company there or all the election tourists from /pol/ are a good example of this, as decent posters went they were all that's left.

The biggest cancer on any imageboard being "you don't agree with current culture so you must be a tourist" hasn't changed. Most users don't use the anime boards and don't care about the big lore of one pedo fixation from the last. I don't care if it's Rei or Chirno or whatever. It's still cancer. I don't care if some sharty poster wants to tell me I'm new to 4chan when I have no stake in the site. The mods are extremely prompt to delete anything too political or too incendiary, and for issues like veganism and seed oils that they can't delete they just leave a few threads up all the time and delete any spam that's trying to get around them.

It's not "good" if what you're interested in is effortposts and serious discussion, but I don't go to 4chan for that. I go there to read posts from people that don't have an agenda or an identity, and /ck/ is pretty much still that, despite how much everyone likes to wring their hands and worry about bots and shills.
