I loved to post off topic on /tv/, you would unironically have the best discussions on that board. Most of my off topic was rather inoffensive stuff just not strictly related to /tv/ in the real spirit. Sometimes I would funpost and make a thread that was just barely relevant to /tv. but was really an excuse to discuss a hot button social issue like the tranny menace or brown people.

One of my IPs was permaed off /tv/ for 60 bans, which was rare usually they don't let you get that high

On larger boards, off topic threads were often 100x better than the actual stated purpose of the board.

Seeing /ck/ having three of the top five power jannies on it makes so much sense. I don't think I was ever banned on a board as often as that one.

I'm new to delving into this sort of stuff. Bear with me. I get how the mods and jannies are screwed. I get that everyone who ever browsed or posted on there is now visible by IP address.

I get that mods, jannies and name posters used emails and that those emails might be usable to identify them irl.

What I DONT get is how anonymous posters should worry if they gave no personal info in their posts, most people use a VPN or at least a dynamic IP, and there nothing anyone can really find with an IP address alone beyond a general location like city, state country etc.

As far as I can tell it's really only the people dumb enough to either not mask their IP AND chose to submit personal info.

He's not interested in leaking user data but I do wonder if he still has access to all the IPs and posts in the DB still

After reading Sharty /soy/, reddit r/4chan & KF 4chan thread I can confidently say:

- The guy that hacked 4chan absolutely punked and humiliated lazy gookmoot and paid mods by hacking the website with a PDF exploit. 4chan got touched and this definetely did not happen before, ever.
- Jannies deserve it, and they deserve to be tormented. They were fucking around too much. 4chan hired too much jannies on an already botted up consensus cracking platform with 70% bots. I was running into jannies all the time in normal discussion and if you BTFO'ed them they would ban you for 3 days.
- 4chan will come back online, but with 15 min captcha shit, no unique ip, all this fucking shit being blown into the fan with degenerate loser mods and jannies...4chan definetely won't be the same, it wasn't already but now only the bottom of the barrel will browse it

in /sp/ there was one brit jannie/mod combo who'd autosage our australian football general during the season, ban posters for discussing the sport and the stadiums (ie discussing a particular stadium named Marvel Stadium, was banned as it was apparently /tv/ related and therefore 'off-topic'.
