The problem here is that every single thing you say is against the rules, so what the fuck can anyone say?

The rules had to been made because people are dumb as fuck. Those rules are the equivalent of the parent who walks into their sons fighting after working a 10-hour shift. You don't want to know who started it or what it is about, everyone goes to their rooms and shuts up.

You can't talk about those points you mentioned because most of the time people will spew out the dumbest shit ever, what's worse is that since that shit is controversial is also a very good recipe for a dumpster fire (And dare i say, detracts from the content we all want to enjoy). Shitposting is fun but then you run the risk of turning your platform into something like what 4chan is nowadays where everyone spams reaction images while falseflagging as the opposite side. You lose less by not allowing people to talk about those subjects in particular.

Also, DSP reminds me of those people who allways yell "ALL POLICE IS BAD AND CORRUPT", just because they got pulled over once in their lives, his statements are allways like that and this is the first time he has recieved this much backlash over something he said so of course he backed away like a bitch. The worst part is that DSP will become even more boring because he couldn't keep his mouth shut, he has to let everyone know that he is the holder of the truth and that his opinions are spicy.

So tomorrow we can expect the following:

1) Start with a weak-ass apology
2) Saying he ran his mouth a bit more than he should have, kicked a hornet's nest
3) Fell victim to a swarm of angry responses that took his words out of context
4) The stress ruined his staycation, he didn't get any rest, he's more stressed now than he was before
5) Didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings, now he just has to stay positive and focus on having fun playing games with you guys on stream.
6) Ban anyone who says "Paid Shill" or "True Gamer" in chat or brings up his Twitter at all

If any of these points don't come true tomorrow I will be genuinely shocked.

No. 6 isn't even a random possibility. It's a given

I mean all Twitch streamers can fuck off as far as I'm concerned, the idea of unironically watching someone else play a video game is something I can't wrap my head around.
The Twitch streamers that I watch aren't in the same vein as what most would consider the "average" Let's Player. There's one stream I subscribe to that mostly dicks around with wrestling games (and occasionally other stuff) but they're not all about "getting those views" or "playing the latest games". They're just screwing around and having fun with their friends.

This is the fucking dumbest shit ever and the entire gaming industry and all streamers are a bunch of crybabys who spend 8/10ths of the day whining about dumb shit like what DSP thinks instead of making better video games.
tbh this is a 2for1 special here. we get to see dsp self-destruct again like the absolute r.etard he is, and we get hundreds of spergs angry because he might have insulted their le epic gaming job. I mean in all earnest who gives a shit what a loser from polygon thinks?

once again phil is solidifying himself as the king of autism. long live the king!

Its pretty fucking meta-autism when the only relevance journalists from IGN or Polygon have is solely because they're talking about Phil.

>Insult and berate game makers and other streamers/gamers for close to a decade over shit that is actually your fault and caused by your lack of skill
>Claim you're a tough guy who "gets fueled by all the hate thrown at him"
>Game makers and streamers/gamers finally throw all that shit you've been saying about them right back in your face
>Run and hide like a fucking bitch, then talk shit about them after the heat dies down (which he will do)
>Be 36 year old "man" while this is happening

It's easy to see why he drowns himself in gin so often. Anyone else would legit kill themselves if this was their current lot in life.

Put a poll in the general discussion thread regarding this issue since I can't think of another poll at the moment.

Speaking of out-of-context, remember when it was those dang dirty detractors that got Phil kicked out of his Adsense contract?

He was obviously taken out-of-context when you just play a clip of him asking for viewers to click the ads on his videos. Bonus lulz: 554/600 subs.

I hadn't seen that rant on games reviewing before. I know I'm very late on this but can somebody please explain to me what the flying fuck his point is there? Buying games on release day is bad, because you're a sucker who's falling for hype. So instead you should watch someone livestream the whole fucking game for you, then watch their review, then decide if you want to play it or not like a week or two later? And somehow that's demonstrating self-control and independence?

This is what makes DSP's MUH CONTEXT meme so funny. When you listen to him spill long-form thoughts out of his head, he's barely coherent. How the shit are you supposed to put these cretinous thoughts in context?

He's jealous that he's not bigger than he is so he manufactures division between himself and those who are successfully doing what he thinks he originated.

You can tell it's a half-assed thesis because he first starts off making it about people having "self control" and meanders into it being about game companies not giving us good games anymore. . .because of reasons. It is a wholly transparent position insofar as it's underlying motive: pure, unadulterated, jealousy.

I can't wait for email leaks proving that game devs have been secretly paying streamers to shill video games, we all know its true and at least common in certain situations.

I honestly don't think they have to. I think simply giving advance access to them is almost an open bribe, because they're obviously giving you this because they expect you to give them publicity, and it's also fairly obvious if you just shit on everything they give you, they're not going to keep doing that.

Why make it an explicitly corrupt transaction when everyone participating, and everyone watching these streams, already knows what's up? You know the guy got advance access, but seriously, if you watch the stream and the game sucks, you can tell that even if the guy doing it is shilling up a storm.

There just isn't as much incentive for blatant corruption as with games "journalists," who write articles and you don't get to see them streaming, generally. Even there, I think the general bribery is more in terms of schwag and invitations to events and shit like that, and at worst, shit like Zoe Quinn draining your nuts into her stomach.

Let's go on a fun little trip to an alternate reality. A reality where Phil stood his ground, took even more flack, and ended up becoming a beacon of hope against shilling for video game streamers. And then, at the end of his life suddenly everything fades into Phil floating above the earth surrounded by all his detractors, even people like Tevin, PandaLee, JohnRambo, and even you and I, and we all begin clapping and saying "Congratulations!" to Phil.

Nah, just kidding, that would require Phil to have a spine and not be a corrupt piece of shit himself.

I mean all Twitch streamers can fuck off as far as I'm concerned, the idea of unironically watching someone else play a video game is something I can't wrap my head around. However, if I walked into the next office and told my coworkers they were shit at their jobs and that they were pathetic shills not like me who's awesome and cool, I'd fully expect to get some sort of reprimand if not fired.

I can grasp this general idea, and I usually don't watch streams terribly often. However, when I do, it's generally because there's a specific game I like and play it a lot, and I've hit some kind of skill plateau, but want to get better. Then, I'll watch someone who's actually really good at it, and who when they're streaming, actually explains their reasoning for what they're doing, points out their own mistakes and how they could have done something better, and in general, is actually helpful and useful.

My main example of this is a guy called darktwinge, a Twitch streamer who did FTL: Faster Than Light and is one of the best players of the game out there. It is notoriously difficult, with an "Easy" mode that would be called "Nightmare" in most other games, and basically a roguelike-like, in that the content is procedurally generated and death is permanent (and usually very swift when you are new to the game).

There's a similar guy named lethalfrag who also plays this game, but instead of twinge's incredibly methodical, precise play, he does incredibly difficult challenge runs in a wild, aggressive style. He also has a degree in culinary arts and does cooking streams sometimes where he cooks top tier meals and shares recipes. He's basically the anti-DSP and the anti-Jack Scalfani at the same time.

Good streamers, though, have some things in common. They're invariably polite with their audience, they personally acknowledge any tips or comments and answer questions from the peanut gallery, and they do not gratuitously ban people unless they're being absolute shitheads. Whether they're doing it for a living or just as a side thing because they like the community, they act like professionals. They don't act like infantile morons.

Really, if DSP had just started streaming today with the way he acts, he'd never have gotten anywhere. His sole claim to fame was getting in early and getting "famous" early and now he is only known for being an asshole and for having previously been one of the early people doing this shit. Even then he sucked.

tl;dr there are reasons, even if they're kind of autistic reasons, to watch streamers, but there are really no not-utterly-dumb reasons to watch DSP unironically. The obvious reason to watch streamers, i.e. to get better at something, simply doesn't apply. All you learn from DSP is how to bitch and complain when you play like an idiot and lose. The only real reason to watch him is to watch an idiot fail at something and laugh at him, or troll him and get banned.
