He probably saw it on one of the pro-LGBT groups he follows. He goes to events like this sometimes. He was seen at UVA a few months ago at a different LGBT event, for instance.

It was in the Random containment thread at first. I split it to its own thread after I saw the news story on Twitter and that it quoted Chris. I think the last time he appeared on the local news was the McIntire Park protest back in 2009 (though I guess the last time anything CWC-related was that clip of his house on fire).

I think it's kind of funny how in the news interview, since it bills the event as one attended by students, it makes it sound like this stammering idiot, who can't even speak coherently in a ten second soundbite attends UVA. It's pretty impressive that Chris again winds up being featured in media all the same, he has a real knack for it and I'm sure his ego enjoyed it.

Local news stations are desperate for content and for people to talk on camera. In smaller markets like Charlottesville, it's easy as fuck to get on the local news. They will go out to almost any event to film, esp if you call or they get a press release about it. Once they show up to the podunk event they will go up and beg people to be on camera for an interview and they are stuck there until they get a few clips. Most people aren't interested and don't want to appear on camera.

This is why Chris gets on the air, his autistic ass loves the attention and he will immediately volunteer to speak, while probably the last 10 people asked refused. Camera guys love that shit, makes their life easier. They just need to film a few crowd shots/action shots, then one or two interview quotes, after that they got their package and they can gtfo there.

While some camera guys/field producers do like to get the most exceptional individual at an event on camera for shits and giggles, you are also dealing with the dumbass factor. The average person doesn't want to risk looking bad on air - dumbasses don't have that kind of self-awareness so they are usually the first to volunteer to ramble off some stupid shit. This is why it seems like every time the news films a piece in the deep south they manage to find the most inbred, dumbass motherfucker in the state to spout off something incredibly stupid on camera. Stupid people are always the first to volunteer to make an ass of themselves and always think they have something relevant to say. Chris being Exhibit #1 of this phenomenon.
