If there's one thing we know about Bin Laden, he's gonna find a way to get a tape/message out to his people. We never heard from him ever again.

Maybe the CIA just wanted to talk to him more?
That whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth because we only have the Obama administrations word on it. I wouldn't consider glory hounding SEALs as being trustworthy either as most of the ones who have done books have been caught in lies pretty easily too.

Sure it could all be legit, but could also be a gayop by one of the shittiest administrations we've ever had.

Names of the Dancing Israelis: Sivan Kurzberg, Paul Kurzberg, Oded Ellner, Yaron Shimuel and Omar Marmari.

Never forget how despite all the use of 9/11 survivors and first responders to justify blowing up brown kids in countries that had nothing to do with 9/11, the US government still treated the survivors and first responders like shit and refused to cough up healthcare and other shit they needed.

Jimmy Eat World renamed their 2001 album to be self titled instead of the original title, Bleed American after the attacks, along with renaming the track that shared the name. They only went back to that name in 2008.

I learned this the other day and didn’t know where else to put it.

Contemporary reviewers and people looking back have speculated that part of The Middle’s success was it was hopeful in a dark time. I tend to agree. It is solidly one of those songs that reminds me of the simpler times of childhood and finding light despite the turmoil of growing up in a changing world.

The psychological and emotional trauma 9/11 inflicted on us as kids is so hard to convey, but everyone in the same age-group knows that feeling without fail.

Like that's a real good point: why the fuck didn't the adults keep things under wraps for the sake of the kids outside of NYC? I live on the other side of the country and woke up to my parents watching the news and Mom crying and not knowing what was happening as we were shuffled off to school, and then everyone was talking about it but had no idea how to process it. My teacher then decided to turn on a separate TV in the room for us to gather around and watch for a few minutes, and seeing the footage of the plane hitting the second tower was harrowing, everyone was upset. One girl was sobbing hysterically because it was her birthday and she had to see all that.

I was lucky my mom chose to only talk about it to us kids if we approached her with questions, which wasn't a whole lot. For the most part, my brothers and I continued to be kids despite all that (to the point where I got stitches a few nights later simply for being a retard, I only remembered the date was after 9/11 because there was footage of Bin Laden on the TV in the lounge).

I already mentioned in this thread about my childhood friend, so no need to repeat myself.
My husband, who is from NY, saw it on the news and reportedly said, "Woah, awesome..." He thought it was special effects from a movie, and got in trouble.

I don't remember the morning specifically, but I remember watching a glut of 9/11 documentaries that would play during school hours on TV. It never bothered me to watch the plane hit then, but it does now. I hate knowing the little black specks falling out are potentially human.
Ngl sometimes I gotta listen to Enya like a teacher after 9/11.

Seriously, what was with teachers and Enya after 9/11?
She just suits the vibe. New age-y, healing, art teacher vibes.

Wait, was this a thing? My 4th grade teacher did that and I thought it was just because she liked Enya. Figured I was the only one who got that treatment.

I was absolutely a thing for some reason, like half my middle school teachers did it. No Enya til 9/11

i laugh inappropriately hard seeing the songs radio stations were asked not to play after 9/11

Yeah it really is a little sketch that we got zero in the way of confirmation. Saddam and Gaddafi were important enough that people damned well filmed and leaked it, graphic though it was. If it went down anything like the official story says, I could see not wanting to release footage in this case because they don't want to reveal something or someone that might cause a diplomatic shitstorm, compromise some kind of glowniggery, or reveal egregious misconduct on the Americans' part. Still, you'd think there would be a single published autopsy photo or something, like there was with Uday and Qusay (iirc), just something conclusive since, you know, Bin Laden was kind of a big deal.

Maybe the guy had been dead for weeks or months by the time the Americans got there and there was some diplomatic or propaganda reason not to reveal this with a badly decomposed corpse, maybe something crazier, who even fucking knows.

Okay yeah that shit was funny. What it boiled down to was that the only song we were allowed to hear was Sarah McLachlan's fucking Angel song and the sheer repetition was so fucking grating that hearing it makes me cringe to this day. What smoothbrain decided that list was necessary? I think anyone attempting not to exhibit obvious poor taste knows not to play Let the Bodies Hit The Floor for a week or two, but shit like Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da? What kind of unhinged easily-triggered faggots do they think we are?

An instrumental version of How Deep Is Your Love was playing in the plaza on 9/11/2001 and hearing that triggers me now.

Triggers the memory of what happened that day, that is. Nothing dramatic on my end, just makes me think of how creepy the videos are.

What makes it even more bizarre is that song is about heroin addiction.

Jon Stewart, a fucking comedian, had to work for years so that 9/11 first responders could get the care they needed.

If I wanted to blow up brown kids I'd just do it. Why does America have to make everything complicated for itself?

Made even worse by the fact that breathing in all the asbestos dust and other shit from 9/11 gave so many first responders cancer and other serious, long-term health issues.
