There is now a button alongside First Unread for Next Highlight that should take you to the next highlight on a future page. As for now, it only works on the first post of that page.

Edit: Try it out on the DSP thread. I'm pleased with the results.
I really wish each highlight had a "next highlight" button attached somehow. so if I'm starting a long thread I can skip along without all the scrolling back up.

it's working well as it is though, really nice.

Is there a way to put the "Next Highlight" button onto the highlighted comment? Testing it, people get to the highlighted comment, and gotta scroll to the top of the page to click to get to the next highlighted comment. Maybe I'm finicky bitch, but if I wanna breeze through a thread, I don't want to continuously have to scroll up to click the next 'highlight'.

This is pretty cool. But if a page offers multiple highlighted posts, I think it'd be best to additionally place "next highlight" on that kind of post. It would save a lot of scrolling through.

Edit: @Immortal Technique beat me to it

Works well and is a nice edition. Will help with catching up on threads instead of slogging through 60+ pages. Will agree with other posters that it may be more convenient to have it at the highlighted comment if possible so that you don't have to scroll up. Have tried it on some other boards like Melinda/Casterson board and found that if there are multiple highlighted posts one after the other, the site struggles to go beyond the first highlighted post (though in that case you might as well just read them all).

I tried it in Ethan Ralph's thread and it got me in a loop between pages 16 and 18, it stopped throwing me back on page 16 when i browsed to the next highlight on page 22.
Must be a weird glitch where if highlights move between pages that isn't reflected in the table.

Uuuh... Hey, Null, it's not working for me. I don't know if I am extremely autistic, but I cannot see the "next highlight" close to the "first unread" button.

I also could not see the "highlight" thing initially, but now I can. So... Any suggestions?

EDIT: OK, closed and reopened the browser, it's working. I can see it. Thanks!

Highlighting content is part of the globohomo agenda to stop people from reading my shitposts. That being said, I think this was sorely needed and appreciate its implementation. I felt highlighting posts would be most useful to me for big megathreads like Wu, DSP, Greer, etc so I went through the Greer thread as I had fallen behind. I must echo other posters in that adding a next highlighted button on the post itself would be a winning addition that makes this good feature great. I did not experience any errors and was overall happy with the highlight function. I feel like it hit on pertinent happenings in the Greerverse. I will go through the thread post by post when I get the chance and update if that assessment changes because some thing was left out.

I do have some comments about the content being highlighted. One of the posts was a funny shop that I enjoyed, but there was also a Greer story that many people enjoyed where as I don't personally care about rping or song parodies, etc from the community. Personally I care more about catching up on the highlights of what the cow is doing as opposed to funny thread stuff. You'll have to ultimately decide what content you feel should be highlighted. That's my opinion. The only highlighted post I actually had a problem with was from a newfriend who admitted to not reading the entirety of the thread, but wanted to rant. It got a lot of positive response because a lot of people feel the way they do. It also got quite a few late reactions because the topic of their post has been discussed ad nauseum. I think that a threshold, lower than the initial highlight requirement, for negative rating should be explored to prevent posts like that from getting highlighted if it hasn't been already and adjusted if it has. I don't care about some fag's first post where he says Greer is a bad songwriter and is dunning kruger af despite the fact that myself and many others agree.

All in all a great and sorely needed tool that makes content more accessible.

This is really useful for any of the massive threads with hundreds of pages. Would it be possible to set it to filter out everything but the highlights so you can just scroll straight through?

This button will seamlessly move you along to the next highlight. If it's not there, that is the last highlight of the thread.

We determined earlier in the thread this would cause a feedback loop where only the first highlighted posts could ever be highlighted and that threads as a whole would suffer if most posts were never even seen a la reddit.

Impressive. At first I thought this project might end up becoming overly complicated, but this is actually a very elegant and unobtrusive way to make all those 1000+ page threads actually readable. Were you the one who did all the work on it or are there other contributors?
