Nope sjws aren't the boogie man
What I'm getting at is, they are some pretty uncouth motherfuckers even if they aren't outright boogiemen (more like boogietrans lel). Disagreeing with them is akin to throwing a pebble at a rabid wolf or hornet's nest as others were saying so still be careful and hide yo shit.

The common thread in these two and many others here is Social Justice. Let's not beat around the bush here. They're a major component of what Null just mentioned. Because the Farms, if only through chronicling the actions of those involved with it, actively opposes Social Justice nuttery, you need to be aware of The Three Rules of Social Justice. Not all SJWs are nutters, mind, but the overpowering majority of them believe in these three tenets:

1. Any Action is Allowable in the Name of Social Justice

2. Everyone is an Acceptable Target in the Name of Social Justice

3. No Location is Exempt from Scrutiny in the Name of Social Justice

You need to look at this, nonflinchingly, and with complete understanding: Social Justice does not want lolcows chronicled, for fear of what lurks in their own closets. They do not want accountability, they do not want anyone to have the right to so much as disagree with them, let alone call them out for their shit. They don't even feel we should have the right to discuss them here on the Farms. Hell, most of them feel the Farms must not exist. Simply standing up for normalcy makes you their enemy - opposing them outright makes you heretical.

That's what we're up against, my Kiwis.
That's what we oppose right now.

That's why you have to know what you're getting into. The laws of measured response and common fucking decency do not apply to these individuals, which is why staying level-headed is so fucking important. If you can, take security measures. If you can't, then be ready to ride out the storm if it comes to that.

A lot of people do need to be warned and made aware of how simple connecting a real life identity to a profile here or anywhere else online can be.

However on the flip side I feel like the surge in discussion and practice of doxxing have far overblown its effect.
Obviously if you are a well established gentleman or lady you shouldn't go flinging around photos of your lewd bits, posting real life contact info, work place info, ect. Ect.
Everyone's level of comfort with what they share is going to be different and will change based on their own personal life.

Basically don't let the threat of doxxing cause more damage to you than the action itself. Just that fear really will for some. Stay safe.
Yeah, and it also matters who you are. Null is the King Kiwi so he's the lightening rod of everyone who hates this site and his role in it. Someone who posts with less antagonistic or spergy content, or less often, is less at risk of doxxing. Calibrate your opsec to your risk profile and apply some common sense for best results. thumbs3.jpeg

Give no reason to have problems and have no reason to worry if something happens.

You underestimate the ability of SJWs to weasel problems into literally anything. If they can have issues about a hand in a video game, they can find something you post to complain about and get their personal armies on you.

I'm more so with @CatParty on this one.

Yes, it is true that there are cases involving that kind of twisted slander brought against average folk by extreme groups and SJWs.
Yes, you should take preventative measures.
Yes, you should watch what you post that might link to personally identifiable information

However I do not like this trend of boderline fear mongering regarding doxxing. Granted I'm bias given my own doxxing with the end result of absolutely nothing happening. But that is the norm. NOT the crazy career shattering effect that people are so afraid of.

I literally saw one Kiwi today write "After that post Null posted on Kiwi, I never felt so anxious in my life"
Obviously they did not mean quite this level of actual fear, but I know there are others out there worrying more than they should regarding this.
Hyping up how powerful and destructive this is causes more harm than good. That's the more common effect of doxxing, the very panic and stress of what could happen.

Be protective but be calm. Random users are not being targeted.

to the dudes freaking out about this: chill

disinformation is your friend: optimally, don't post anything about yourself at all in any easily accessible place here, but if you have to do it, just edit the information so that it doesn't accurately reflect anything about you. it's that simple

I'm not actually scared of them, mainly because I took a few preventative measures shortly after I rejoined Kiwi Farms. But some sensitive nancy could see a post I made about why non-binary gender is bullshit and cry about it on Tumblr. If I leave my home address and phone number floating around online, that means they could post it and some teenage psychopath could nail dead animals to my house or call and send death threats, but more probably nothing will happen. My girlfriend's been a target of similar treatment by some group of weens, labelled as a pedophile and predator on some shitty hate wiki, but ultimately she calmly talked her way out of it and as a bonus found that said weens were roleplaying as horny 14 year old girls on Chatango. Even if I do get doxxed they won't have a leg to stand on if I calmly talk my way out of it and probably find out that the ringleader was a pedophile who made a teenage girl kill herself and also strangles cats.

Tl;Dr, I was really saying to just be careful what you post. Also with minimal powerlevelling to show that more often than not practically nothing will happen if you get doxxed because doxxers are cowards.

You can view the EXIF data of your images at Jeffrey's Exif Viewer (URL or upload).

One quick and dirty way of removing EXIF is to convert your image to BMP, save, then convert back to JPG. This will lower the quality of the image, though.

This drag and drop applet will strip metadata from images.
Can't you also just right click the photo, Properites, Details tab? At the bottom you can click "Remove Properties and Personal Information." (Windows 7)?

Also, you should probably disable geolocation on your phone's camera settings (McAfee's Rookie Mistake Gives Away His Location).

Listen to this man and CatParty, for they speak truth.

I wasn't trying to be alarmist when I was bringing shit up earlier, it's just that I was trying to get across why we're likely to see an increase in people doing this shit, and it'd be happening pretty much irrespective of anything we do here on the Farms. Simple awareness does wonders.

Did anything specific trigger this dramabomb?
Probably not, just Null and others being worried that Tumblrites can get our dox and mail us dead rats or some shit. We're now dealing with people who were practically raised by the internet (A good chunk of us merely adopted it) so it is a good idea to take safety measures.

People should be afraid. People should be very afraid. Once a 12 year old boy posted that his mom made him an awesome sandwich and tumblr got upset about him perpetuating gender roles so they doxed him and then a feminist showed up at his house and shot him right in the head.

In the op that null wanted us to read, it was not just tumblr sjws. It was any person. Who we mock here. He literally said he was tired of getting emails complaining.
He just wants us to be careful. This isn't a call to action.
