It's distressing how true this is, I used to work at a fast food place in the city, one day this big guy that they hired showed up, he looked like Burger Andy.Mcdonald's and most food places have one of the least painful hiring processes that people who just want money can go through. No drug test generally
I couldn't tell because but he was apparently high as fuck, or something, something was up with him. I don't wanna say he was twitchy but he looked out of it and nervous and had to excuse himself several times if anything got overwhelming. And like he's not a 70 pound teenage girl, this guy had to be 6' 2". He looked like a lost kid at a circus.
They eventually sent him home and the main fat bitch (every restaurant has one) called the manager and just started grilling him about giving her two new employees who had no fucking clue what was going on to work the rush (I was only a month in to my time there), and she said it plain as day "HE WAS HIGH AS FUCK WHY'D YOU HIRE HIM". He never showed back up so I guess he asked for the job so he could get some quick cash, and then first day just immediately decided he couldn't handle it and took some painkillers or some shit.
It's probably been brought up in this thread already but another thing about fast food is that some races just don't get along. Especially if there's an age difference. The main bitch and her sister and even the manager would constantly bully this one black fella that worked with us, he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed and his pace was a little slow but they were just merciless towards him, at one point telling me not to work like him in front of his face. And he wasn't like some dumb drug dealer they pulled out of a sewer he was a regular mild mannered guy, he liked King of the Hill and was saving up to buy gold in case the economy went bad.
And I can tell you it probably bothered him because I was in a similar situation and it made me feel like shit. Later they hire this old black lady and her daughter, they were a handful but when them and the only other black employee were working together, and playing music that they liked (jazz) they were super efficient. Moral of the story is don't be an asshole to fast food workers, they get it enough from management and from each other.
That's not even mentioning the homeless.
