How the fuck would that work exactly? Do lone wolf shooters regularly forget that they don't have accomplices or something?
It's a high pressure situation. Like you're going for the highest kill count possible and you kick in a classroom door and there's people in there already, like, killing each other. You just go, we'll I guess this room is taken care of, might as well move to the next one.

It's psychology or some shit.

I didnt mention it before and it's already been talked about but who the fuck told students to fight in a tweet? Unless the students have guns as well that's a suicide mission, only to be undertaken if there are no other options.

Mind boggling how stupid universities are these days.
It's not as silly as it sounds, of course it's best to not be in a position to be shot at in the first place, but...

Just consider how much cops miss people running at them unarmed, and they're trained (snark about how well they're actually trained aside). There's a reason that the 21 foot rule exists, and that's because within 21 feet your chances of being able to actually shoot, hit, and stop someone running full-bore at you decrease drastically any closer than that, and especially if there's more than one person running full bore at the shooter chances are one or more people will make it to the shooter, and as long as they start beating the shit out of him, there's a good chance that gun becomes less than useful to the shooter. Also let's be real, chances are your average school shooter is not going to be prepared for multiple, preferably screaming, assailants bearing down on his ass: they're expecting passive or cowering targets.

The only weakness is I'm not sure most people will instinctively zerg rush a dude with a gun, even if that is objectively the right decision. You need to be ready to batter a human to death with whatever you can grab and most people just don't think about that or ever think they'll need to.

One might point to Kyle Rittenhouse as a counter-example even though it's kind of the opposite situation (defensive shooting), but that's part of why that situation is so crazy: the people he shot basically approached him just close enough to one at a time to give him time to reorient and reacquire target just long enough to get a shot off on target; his form was almost perfect, intentional or not. It's also worth noting that almost everyone that seriously approached him when he got knocked down made it to him...they just either died because their aorta got shredded (a perfect shot), ran (technically jump-kick nigga did land his kick, he just didn't commit and ran after), or got their bicep blown up (another perfect shot). If Kyle was a couple degrees off on any of those shots, they make it to him, smack and/or shoot him, and he's likely a dead man.

I always thought the "Fight" part was to fight another hostage or whatever. In the hopes that the shooter might get confused and think you're on his side or something.
Dude, I know you’re being facetious, but I was responding nicely to someone who clearly didn’t understand why universities were putting out the “Run, hide, fight” text.

Don’t be a dick. Education/training is always key.

In an active shooter situation you are supposed to run, if you can't run then you hide and if you can't hide you fight. The words have changed over the years but the idea remains the same.

This asshole shooter has been known for hours, police are concluding that it might have something to do with Covid vaccines (so they know who he is), yet no goddamn name has been released. WTF is going on?
I wager that it has something to do with the troll accs made of the "shooter." My guess is they want to snare all the involved troll parties first.

Probably scrubbing his online presence and letting the family they spoke to privatize theirs. Who really needs to know right this second?

.... Now understanding I'm old and fat and unlikely to succeed..... You mean most people *don't* consider the impromptu weapons or lack of them in any given office space?..

Not actually trolling here. Like seriously other people don't go "well I'm in an attacker friendly aka gun free building with very little in the way of security so that back locker room in the women's downstairs is the most likely out of the way spot with a heavy door, the coffee pot in the breakroom in the morning is hot and glass and usually half full also near the big knives for catered food... .. yup I'm 100% fucked here but I hope the CEO gets it first that fucker.. I wonder if someone else would know you can pop the lock on the 2nd floor closet from outside and shut yourself back in without a key..."

I have little delusions i would accomplish much with any of that .. but people don't consider it?

I think half of the problem might be; why is it necessary to instruct them to fight if their lives are in danger.

Do american students not have basic survival instincts or are they incapable of making basic human decisions without being told beforehand? Warnings on shampoo bottles led to this.

Again, look to Columbine. The victims didn’t fight, and the killers targeted them as they hid under desks. It isn’t easy to get in tune with fighting people with guns, look at bank heists and airplane hijackings, most people will try to comply and we even encouraged it socially to prevent provoking the armed assailants. No one, in America at least, had very much experience preparing for a sadistic killer that only cares about pain.

Hell look at the Christchurch attack.

Three people actually did rush him, they didn't stop him but got reasonably close.

Anyways, there's been books upon books written about the unique pyschology victims of mass shootings go through during the shooting, if you want to read up on it.

I should, any particular recommendations?

I'd love to but Google has turned into trash and thus the stuff I read up on about the west Texas mall shooting is now buried under hundreds of pages of shitty news articles that all say the same thing.

But long story short, shootings in "safe" places, like a grocery store or a school or whatever fuck with the victim's flight or fight response because they're already somewhere safe. Thats why you will see people briskly walking away from mass shootings when they should be running their asses off. They're already in somewhere they consider safe, yeah they "know" that they are in danger, yeah they hear sirens or gunshots or whatever but, you know, you're at the mall and can't actively see the threat, their whole life's worth of experience is telling them that there isn't any immediate danger present, so they fast walk to the exit and then mill around in the parking lot trying to figure out where their car is instead of making a bee-line for the trees.

And then for people just cowering in a corner as they get shot... well freezing up has been an issue militaries have had to train out of their recruits for hundreds of years now.

This, basically. Pre-9/11 and pre-Columbine, there was a sense of “comply and you won’t get hurt.” I thought we were all well past that. These days, if you find yourself in an active shooter situation, it’s really just run, or if you absolutely cannot, go out in a fucking blaze of glory. Or you might get lucky and turn a shooter into a couch cuck.

I should, any particular recommendations?
I second this, would be happy to read.

(Tried to edit this into my last post, didn’t work)
Yes and no. I get that “some people” don’t get the danger (probably niggers), but some are trying to catch the events on their phone. That’s where we are now. No self-preservation, but “how do I get this trending on TikTok?”

This average 30-something like myself is probably (hopefully) getting outta dodge because who gives a shit about an iPhone video?

From what I'm reading, Georgia allows students to carry on college campuses, but this university seems to be private and bans all firearms on campus, so great job disarming law-abiding adults and making them sitting ducks. Gun-free zones should be held criminally liable when those present are banned from self-defense during a situation where their lives are in danger.

And you know the retards are already calling for gun control, even though a literal TOTAL BAN ON GUNS on this campus didn't stop shit.
