Cows don't understand the first thing about half the stuff they rant about. As you said it's the most surface level understanding of it, in this case communism. To them it's, "the government takes care of you."
And that's true so long as you're also giving back to them. You work. You do your job. And in return the state provides you with a place to live, food and all that kind of stuff. But if you, like ADF, don't work then guess what? You don't get anything. You are not providing to the state and the state isn't providing anything to you. It's each according to his. or her, means.

That's the biggest part that these commie cows don't understand. It's not a free ride. That only happens in capitalist societies that have these pesky things called "human rights". Under communism you're only valuable so long as you work, or you did a great service to the party. Phil has done nothing to garner that kind of privilege meaning he'd be out on the street or need to rely on his family for food and shelter. And based on how he's treated them, he'd be out on the street.

Phil doesn't even have an identity so much as he borrows things from other people / cultures.

Back in high school he was gay and wanted a sex change to become a woman. Then he claimed he was Jewish. Then he became a lesbian and still wanted to be a woman. He's a total poseur and adopts whatever he feels speaks to him at that moment in his life.

If it's actually east of the Cascades, you're probably talking about Bend since they have satellite campus for OSU there, but I have a feeling you're thinking of Ashland, which is southern Oregon. I'd almost think that would be too rural for him.

Communism is SUPPOSED to be about the system/government taking care of the workers, but thus far every Communist country has basically used the workers as slave labor, given them the barest minimum to get by (if they're lucky), and the only people who were truly taken care of were the elite ruling class of Party leadership. Even Communist governments who have adopted a hybrid system by embracing Capitalism for their economy, like Phil's beloved China, still treat the majority of their citizens like slaves and provide them with a far worse quality of life than Western countries.

Weirdly enough, I think this time it wasn’t them that rejected him. I think he just came to a series of realisations.
- Furries are the opposite of badass.
- Becoming a furry is the only thing that could make us laugh harder at him.
- The “oppression” that furries get is because they’re ridiculous, not due to injustice.
- Furries aren’t really a community you can mooch off.

Actually he'd have been one of the ones bullied and killed long before they even got to Nazino. Then, assuming he survived, he'd have been one of the victims of cannibalism. ADF is a pussy in every sense of the word. He's not a fighter, he's not tough, he's a big blob of jelly that acts like a tough guy online and larps as one but when it comes down to it he's servile and would immediately seek out the biggest and baddest guys and do everything in his power to suck up to them. Then when they got annoyed with him they'd kill him because he's useless.

I'm referring to the modern world there "my guy" not the historical one. Name me one "communist" country that pays it's citizens to do nothing? The only ones that do this and have a true welfare state are those that can afford to. Even those that have one foot in the socialist world and one foot in the capitalist one there are programs for the less fortunate to help keep their heads above water. In the Worker's Paradise of communism, sorry "communism" as there's never been a true communist state on this planet, if you didn't work you didn't get anything from the state.

Phil would have either starved long ago or would have been forced to work in order to survive had he been born in one of those places.

Oh trust me I'm aware of what Communism was supposed to be and what we actually got instead. Every single communist state ever has been a mixture of extreme socialism mixed in with totalitarianism. Their excuse was they were getting the way ready for the true communist state but they just couldn't do so right away so it was a series of baby steps. Problem is those in power didn't want to give up their power so they stalled the whole thing and it went down a really dark path. After all a true communist state would have no government, no police nobody even remotely in charge because everybody would police and govern themselves for the good of the state.

It's of course a pipe dream because while Marx was a decent economist he was a terrible humanist and believed that mankind is inherently good. We are, but we're more concerned with our own safety and security as well as those of our family than we are for some nameless faceless stranger that happens to cross our path. I think the old saying is that mankind is 48 hours and three meals away from anarchy rings true. Take away all the creature comforts, take away the food and the water and people would be trampling over each other to get that last can of Spaghetti-Os.
