I think a lot of people would be surprised and even disturbed to find out the number of people who consider themselves "Antifa" who are just like Phil. I suspect being in Antifa became less appealing as time went on. I think it’s a balancing act with him. He wants to be respected as a badass, but he doesn’t want to actually do anything dangerous. Antifa is rebellious alright, but “security” means he can’t crow about it the way he wants. And the only way to be respected within Antifa is to actually do things. So he has the worst of both worlds.
