The problem is, a lot of the bases available don't really match a lot of people's art styles. A common reason for people using AI is "I can't draw." The artfags go "Use da base!" Well, what if the person has a different drawing in mind? Wouldn't that cause further confusion?

Also, I remember seeing some retards sell bases and that YCH bullshit and I laugh inside because people who need references so bad will just take screenshots, download the png, or use another device to take a photo which they'll send to themselves for personal use (yes, I have done that countless times and of course I will be shameless and remorseless about it). Modern problem with a modern solution.

The only issue is those fuckwits are then going to cry "SUPPORT TEH ARTISTZ!" OK, how about this? I don't "steal" your bases, I don't trace (even with modifications) and I just use AI so nothing is truly taken? Don't come at me with the "steal le artist artstyle train da AI" reasoning because all artstyles are copied in a way.

Lmao you know you are slow when someone dressed like this realizes it. The definition of art is broad. A widely-accepted definition is one where people give it meaning and tamper with it to create something, which is what people using AI for creative works do.

This is what I've been saying. If you constantly draw the same anime characters with smooth skin and fluttering eyelashes, you might as well be a part of your own problems.

That's the thing. Not everyone has the provisions to have art solely as a career path. It's best something left at the side and even then, when you want to make something high-quality, it takes up a hell of a lot of time when you've got priorities. And I've watched the YouTube video and looked at the cesspool of comments blaming da evil leaders and da evil AI. Nigga, art doesn't really contribute much to society except for provide certain stimuli to people. It's not solely the leaders' faults.

How the fuck can a base 'look better'? It's like saying a canvas 'looks better'. Fucking meaningless. The entire point of them is to paint over them so you can't see them anymore? Just going to walk in to a clothes store and start talking about how much I like the mannequins? Maybe there are different poses that you think look better but that is entirely subjective and not your choice to dictate to someone. Maybe there are other bases, but maybe this person wanted a very specific pose that they could not find a base of. The vaunted poisoning methods they championed don't work and never worked. Models keep getting better and don't show signs of collapse. Courts keep finding in favor of AI being fair use (even while Anthropic finds out piracy is still illegal, which is fair enough). AI creeps in more and more to traditional workflows, yes sometimes idiot managers push too much too quickly, but genuine value and time savings makes itself known. AI is already being used at every level of art and entertainment, from concept to something to paint over to wholesale generation, and it can be undetectable/plausibly denied at each level, so it's pointless to scrutinize. The most zealous are shouted down by their own team, pointing out that it makes them look really bad to sling death threats to people just having fun with new technology. Videos from their own side pointing out how harmful it can be to go on witch hunts.

I feel like I've hardly seen a "movement" so thoroughly defeated at every turn. Just cannot gain any ground like trans stuff or other causes.
