AI Art Seething General

Now that Nightshade is released, time will tell it's impact on image generators. What do you guys think will happen?
Wonder if it will be a primeleap situation, a software that was used by artists to protect their content against paywall scrapping sites and then it turned out artists, not being the best people, some were apparently injecting malware into it and the creator of the software even turned out to be a total psychopath or some shit
I also doubt this will even work in the grand scheme of things

I'll move the goalposts here and, for the sake of the hypothetical, pretend this obvious snakeoil product is not actually snakeoil. It is, by the way, but that's beside the point; this will not magically undo the comical amount of checkpoints available on Civit, nor will it stop synthetic data from being created, nor will it remove the countless amount of training data available before this snakeoil Glaze released.
Whatever. It's not my money being invested into this project.

It's a chicago university project that was hyped up enough to completely put everyone on guard and to look out for it in the wild, a year in advance VS autistic super nerds who are casually learning as they go and incidentally advancing cutting edge nonsense for fun and for their waifus, and dropping 5 digits of ducats on workstation training rentals to make goku's dick vein more lore accurate.

This shit is gonna go the way of all other DRM and be busted in a month if it even does anything. Corpo people and posh academia loses to obsessed dweebs and programming sockers every time in the code trenches.

"It's free software created by a reputable team."

Yet I look here and I see this piece of shit is licensed under a proprietary licence.

Considering it's made in Python, though, nobody will care and modify and redistribute the software anyway. Someone will fork it and reverse the function, assuming this isn't complete snakeoil. If you are going to make proprietary software, at least make it in a programming language that conceals its source code behind a binary executable. Those petulant children can't even do their crusade right.

I saw something about this a while ago, and it seems to be some sort of funny adversarial noise that will make any attempts at LoRA turn out badly, to be applied so that people can't mimic your style with SD. This could be very good if the people who sperg out about AI the most didn't all have the same style. Until somebody makes an AI that removes the funny adversarial noise before it goes into the LoRA trainer, unless they did something really clever? I don't know much about what exactly these guys are doing, and I haven't seen a paper, but I haven't looked for one either.

This is weird because they promised the program to be open-sourced, which was the only reason I thought Nightshade had any bearing on its development.

"Palworld is literally just Hogwarts Legacy all over again. People don't care about ethics as long as they're having fun."

This is so hilarious to me, because he is tacitly admitting that he is a fun cuck. He prefers to watch other people have fun and seethe over it instead of having fun himself. Trannies are incredibly dumb.

"[...] but seeing Palworld make tens of millions of dollars off of the most blatantly creative bankrupt, poorly put together asset flip game is so depressing."

Yes, because other games are so much better. I sure cannot wait to play more slop from EA, Ubisoft, Bethesda, Activision, Square Enix, Deep Silver, and all the other companies whose entire enterprise at the moment is remastering games that are 15-20 years old, or adding yet another number to an equally old franchise that introduces more microtransactions with each iteration. Those are very good examples of not creatively bankrupt gaming ventures.

Jesus, man, normally I don't care about NPCs this much, but the ones on Xitter are something else. Completely and utterly devoid of thought.

People on X are accusing PalWorld's developers of using AI generated or AI inspired assets for their game. Just because they were involved with cryptocurrency a few years ago. Crypto and AI has zero correlation.

The game absolutely seems to be using default/store-bought assets for terrain, but I don't see that as being this horrible condemnation. Nobody yelled at the Inscryption guy for having a bunch of store assets in his game, filling out the credits. Out of all the game assets you could have an artist and modeler work together to make, a rocky cliff face or a copse of trees is about the lowest in terms of priority and importance. How many professional companies use shit like SpeedTree? I see that in credits all the time.

In terms of the Pal design, it's funny to see it both being "these are just ripoffs of Pokemon!" and "These are AI generated!" Do you really need an AI to go and come up with "dinosaur, grass type, green with a big flower?" If them making a cat with a big smile is a ripoff, should GameFreak be chastised for ripping off John Tinniel for their Cheshire Cat-esque design of Galar Meowth in the first place? I won't claim that the Pals are wholly original, they obviously take inspiration, but "animal+element" isn't something wholly owned by GF/Nintendo as some font of creativity.

God these people are fucking retarded. They literally are too dumb to understand the idea of parody and that no shit, a parody is going to look like what it's parodying, that's the whole fucking point.

No, you see, it's not really a parody, because they have minimised the effort needed to produce the parody with time-saving tools such as AI. This is the new definition of parody now. Your shitpost has to be made with an unspecified amount of effort above the minimum. We agreed on it at Fucking Retard Convention 2023. Weren't you there?

They are right though with palworld being hogwarts legacy all over again, a bunch of retarded joyless fucks throwing a temper tantrum upon realizing not everyone gives a fuck about their moral crusade and opinions outside of their echo chambers

And every time someone ask them for evidence for the accusations, they mute the thread, or ignore the question because they are too smug to admit "Someone said it to me, so must be true" despite not having enough evidence to back up those claims. It's like these autists every time something related to AI, or smell a flinch of it go into chimping more because god forbid, they cannot live without their 5 minutes of morality superiority.

Edit: He got community note'd by his own followers. My sides.

Let's be real here, it's mostly assblasted Nintendo fans trying to white knight for one of the worst draconian IP companies in the world.

Also any news on 3d modeling AI? I'm waiting for it to finally have no reason not to work on making a game

To the average normalfag, the real issue nowadays in videogames are people using AI in any way, shape or form, instead of the triple A companies turning everything into an always online live service with mtx abuse and stating loud and clear that you will not even own the videogames you paid for, or making every character as ugly as possible filling out the ESG bingo card.

Here's screenshots from the original Acerola xeet (formely tweet) (A) thread, along with the "source" (A) for the users who cannot see the full thread, which I think are required to show how absolutely fucking retarded this outrage this has sparked, as even his source says that "this does not mean that Palworld's monsters were made using AI" and "don't use this as any kind of confirmation that AI was used to design the monsters of Palworld" which makes the original poster seem that he either cannot read or is spreading misinformation on the Internet on purpose (who would do that?)

Additionally, the CEO did not generate any fakemon himself, but was instead talking about how a BuzzFeed data scientist generated it.

I wonder if any of them are aware that the so evil AI tools are now built-in in software such as Photoshop.

People on Xitter are suddenly legal experts, absolutely predicting that this company's going to be crushed by Nintendo's army of lawyers, somehow missing the fact that this game has been announced and developed and shown off in trailers for a while now. They're like infants unable to comprehend that something existed before they became aware of it. If Nintendo was going to C&D PocketPair, they would have done it years ago.

God nintendrones, especially pokefags, are the worst
From their constant whiteknighting and consoooming of mediocre slop, to their constant shitting on anything in the monster tamer genre that isn't Pokemon
No other fanbase acts like they own an entire genre, just pokefags do and it's beyond infuriating
