Amusingly for the purposes of this thread, Vercel is all-in on AI. It shills itself as "the home of AI apps" (a) and even offers a service to have an AI generate your frontend for you (link) (a) in a literal case of offering an AI tool to replace the work of creatives. What even is Vercel? Idk why but that number's funny to me. Not in a comedic way, of couse.
Also what is this "Cara" thing artists keep talking about? Sounds like a western knockoff of Pixiv by how they're pitching it.
wich mario cartoons they're too manyI understand what you mean and I also find the painting way more impressive and transformative, than just taking a photo of a good looking model, at an artsy angle. I'm just saying that she was in the right, as far as current law goes.
Most fanartists can be sued for copyright infringement, unless their art is either a caricature, satirical, or so bad it's beyond recognizable - there is just not much, that companies could earn doing so (they'd probably have to spend more on lawyers) and on top of that, risk loosing reputation.
Even the transformative satirical Mario cartoons on Newsgrounds, had to go, once Nintendo hired a team of lawyers, with very small hats and long noses, that threatened to financially bleed out the whole website, if the cartoons they didn't like stayed up. Therefore I have to assume that fair use ends, precisely at the point, where these kinds of lawyers get involved.
The ones that are no longer on the site. As I said, they caved in to the legal threats, even when for art/cartoons, that were clearly fair use parodies. NSFW refers to all pornographic, violent, or otherwise problematic ones.wich mario cartoons they're too many
?
Oh! I was wondering why just last night in a Japanese documentary they were very very diligently blurring out a whole bunch of chips on a PCB being made. And it was nothing special or secret. That would explain.Because fair use doesn't exist in their own country
The Resistance once again relying on The Man for protection. Love to see it.Illinois Senate passes artificial intelligence protections for artists
"The Illinois Senate approved a bill Friday that would allow artists to sue entities that replicate their work through artificial intelligence without their consent."
Wow. What an absolute fucking nigger. The ones that are no longer on the site. As I said, they caved in to the legal threats, even when for art/cartoons, that were clearly fair use parodies. NSFW refers to all pornographic, violent, or otherwise problematic ones.
Here is the announcement about this happening, that was put on the site:

This is why I hat some Japanese companies. Because fair use doesn't exist in their own country, they're trying to undermine those laws everywhere else.
Funny enough, AI training, is one of the very few copyright exceptions, that exist in Japan, since 2023:
Japan Declares AI Training Data Fair Game and ‘Will Not Enforce Copyright’
>Advertise a website as AI protectionI'm forced to do a small correction here. According to the Cara support blog here (archive), "Currently known issues & troubleshooting info" point 5:

This change was made around May 29th and from that point onward, no new images uploaded to the site were Glazed, unless the artist did so manually beforehand.
Therefore:
Everyone in this thread, and other places (including articles), where the app is being discussed, overlooked this, so I bet a lot of artists upload their art there, thinking it will be protected against scraping. If they did so after this temporary change, it is absolutely not.
- All the server issues the site experienced afterwards, couldn't have been Glaze related.
- When I said I couldn't detect any Glaze-related distortion on the images, it was because Glaze wasn't applied, not because it worked so well, that it wasn't even noticeable.
Supposedly they temporarily disabled it because people were uploading images specifically crafted to take forever to Glaze to DDOS their servers. Probably super-high resolution images with a bunch of Bezier curves or something. This change was made around May 29th and from that point onward, no new images uploaded to the site were Glazed, unless the artist did so manually beforehand.
I throw my vote toward, one sniff of a problem, they'll pull a pump and dump.Everyone in this thread, and other places (including articles), where the app is being discussed, overlooked this, so I bet a lot of artists upload their art there, thinking it will be protected against scraping. Aaaand i was slightly correctWith the increasing amount of ai seething, i won't be surprised if someone go all unabomber on big ai companies' offices or something like that.
NULLBULGE is a modern furry troon hacking group. They're comically inept (using discoal all over the place) but I assume they're either US GOVT affiliated or untouchable for the aforementioned reason.
LinkedIn automatically scraped the image from the linked site. It's like how you send a link to someone on Facebook messenger and it usually tosses the first image it can find into the preview. But also you can set up your web server to return whatever based on the user agent sending the HTTP request.I reverse image searched it and found it at a place, where I least expected it
I have to concede. I don't think AI will ever beat human art because there is no way a machine can generate art that is that painful to look at.
I don't think it will beat human art because it would have to beat human everything to do so. At the point AI is actually intelligent, it isn't really AI any more, or at least it goes from ARTIFICIAL intelligence to ACTUAL intelligence.I have to concede. I don't think AI will ever beat human art because there is no way a machine can generate art that is that painful to look at.
