AI Art Seething General

Idk if this exactly fits here but the most drama I've seen recently has been from AI services themselves instead of people pissed off about their existence. One of the more popular online services pixai decided to go full retard yesterday. One of the main draws of the site was being able to generate an unlimited amount of images without any credit restriction so long as the image resolution was low enough (~400x550 pixels). You could create a low resolution image (free and unlimited and made four per prompt submission) and onsite upscale it to a decent resolution (also free and unlimited) and then put those images through the site's denoiser/enhancer (still free and unlimited). If you knew what you were doing with the numbers and everything you could get something really pretty decent from the site without having any restrictions on amount. It took a fucking long time; ~an hour per image, though you could run 10 at a time. It was one of the best AI generator websites. If you had the time and knowledge you could create basically anything you wanted (outside of things too niche to have a lora and such), it'd be worse than if you simply started off with a larger image but the end result would still be really good. It was one of the only AI services I used to recommend to people.

Yesterday they pushed out a new 'bugfix'. The main 'bug' they 'fixed' was implementing a new minimum credit cost per action, everything from generation to upscaling to enhancing is now limited. It was never a 'bug' it had been a feature of the site since it was first created. This update is also not even mentioned in the news tab of the site or anything like that, the only place you can find this update is on fucking reddit. As well as the obviously deflectory wording it makes it very clear that they know they're pissing off their userbase. It is now limited to 50 of those actions per day, realistically that means you're now only able to make ~10 images per day through the same process as before, though the credits carry over each day. Before you could experiment with niche shit and just create an endless supply of images until it finally spat out something decent. I know first hand, takes fucking ages to get their AI to create a tranny flag properly. I'd say their site is probably still one of the best but it has just killed one of the main reasons to use the site. At this point it's almost not even worth using over the shitty corpo ones. Just sucks to see what was once an actually pretty great service get cucked yet again. Seems to be going the same way as some of the other services; chatGPT got lobotomised, characterAI followed shortly behind, civitai did the same thing as pixai too, though I never had much luck with that site anyway and the corpo ones have been slowly restricting what is acceptable for a long time now. The sites been going downhill for a while, they randomly decided to shadowban nsfw loras from search results a while ago, I thought it was fucking retarded but I'm not enough of a coomer to give a shit. But there's been a long list of suggestions in the community that simply never get even considered. Literally every comment on all of the reddit posts from today is negative towards this update. I mean my reddit account was banned years ago and it's not like I could say it there anyway but christ jannies really are niggers holy fuck. I guess here's hoping this year's GPU announcements are less complete shit than the past few announcements I guess? I mean I can see why they would want to do this, obviously giving people unlimited use makes them really not want to pay for premium, but then again is anyone actually going to pay 450usd a year to make some shitty anime titty images, especially now even those paying users have had a pretty big feature blocked? What would you rather have: a decent gpu and the ability to run models locally as well as use it for gaming and everything else for many years, or a subscription to a site that's been slowly getting shittier and shittier and might not even be usable in a year? I forget the word but there's some word to describe it, almost like exit scamming, pretty common in dying gacha games where they try to milk what's left of their userbase while it's still there and then shut down after a couple months or so. Genuinely shit sucks and as faggy as it is to say if this site doesn't reverse this change I will kinda miss it honestly.

It's happening - again!
Jazza, the mascot of art YouTube, admits to using AI as a part of his projects and makes a video encouraging artists to have a more open discussion, than "le all AI bad" and that there's no way stopping it.

Holy smokes. This is gonna be a fucking nuke.
Haven't seen the video yet but I know that Jazza is pretty well respected ...so grab some damn popcorn!

The last thing you want in your pointless AngryBirds goyslop spin-off number 3974, is someones AI art, but according to this flipping theory, that might be what you get...

This seriously feels like a parody, but somehow there are people, taking this conspiracy seriously and seething about it.

moist charlie and his consequences have been disastrous for the youtube community
idc what the devs did being an adult and making a load of content on childrens cartoons and shitty mobile games is the bigger red flag here i mean literally no one gives a shit about angry birds in current day anyway so why should the devs care

I mean nothing will be worse than the stuff they actually put (far too much) effort into creating:

Many years ago, I was pretty optimistic about the Festive - made a few accounts and signed up for a few newsletters. Today, I got an e-mail, linking to this:

It's not shutting down, because of AI scraping, but (at least in big part) because they fear AI scraping would increase their server bandwidth costs, to the point of bankruptcy.

Seen quite a lot of people throwing watermarks on their shit over the past few days. I kinda wonder how effective it is against AI training. Most of the watermarks I've seen are incredibly faint anyway so it probably does jack shit. I have seen a lot of people go full on with the filters and all that shit to make totally sure their posts can't be used for AI and in the process making their posts look like utter shit. Ironically in the effort to own the AI chuds they have only made their posts look ever better in comparison.

There's now an AI called "Aunt Daisy" you can install on your phone to answer pajeet scam calls, pretend to be a befuddled old woman, and waste the scammer's time with an endless series of pointless anecdotes and nonsense.

Actually I don't think it's a consumer product yet. Just heard about it on the radio and the stories about it are a bit vague.

"Aunt Daisy", eh? Sounds interesting. Reminds me a bit of my neighbor, Agnes. She used to go on and on about her prize-winning rhubarb pie. It wasn't even that good, if I'm honest. Too tart. But Agnes, bless her soul, could talk the hind legs off a donkey. Once, she cornered the poor vicar at the church fete and regaled him with a twenty-minute tale about a squirrel that kept stealing her birdseed. The vicar, bless his cotton socks, just stood there nodding politely, his eyes glazing over. I swear, I saw a single tear roll down his cheek at one point. Probably hay fever, though. It was a particularly bad summer for pollen that year. Hottest summer on record, it was. We had a heatwave that lasted for weeks. The tarmac on the roads melted. We used to fry eggs on the pavement, just for fun. Not that we ate them. Too much grit. But it was the principle of the thing. Showed you how hot it was. Course, we didn't have air conditioning back then. Just a little fan that barely stirred the air. But we made do. People were tougher back then. Where was I?

Knowing me I'd get a random number phonecall and enable that only for it to turn out to be the bank or someone calling me but then again I could do with some old woman telling me about her rhubarb recipes because holy fuck this shit grows like a weed here I literally can't eat it fast enough and everyone else has some growing too so no one wants to fucking take it so it just rots in place

Late but figured i would throw my own little two cents into. I'm a very low end artist with a minor following and i never saw A.I as a problem despite how i always feel it is peolpe like me that should be worried since we are on a lower tier. All i've seen over the years is a certain type of people who complain at least in the majority speaking. They're usually the top of the top when it comes to artists on twitter or different places who think their livelyhood of drawing fan art is threatened because an Image Generation can do the same they do with errors but to a much quicker fashion. What I never got is why this turned into a moral issue like it's fine if people don't like the oddities that come from A.I Art Generation but why act like this is a "human vs machines" scenario when realistically there's no beating the machine since it functions as far as we tell it to.

Here we go...now they're out for Jazza's blood too.

13k sub RETARD makes almost TWO hour long video RAMBLING about MINDLESS internet drama

The original video has more likes than this guy has subs but I'm sure the original guy will definitely flip his opinions now. It's also fucking retarded to call this guy lazy when he has an entire channel proving the opposite. Especially when your entire channel is made up of fucking unedited stream vods, yea it's the other guy that's lazy and definitely not the one uploading literally the easiest type of content you could make, you are very literally less effort than a reaction channel, they might not say anything of value (like you) but at least they spend time going through and editing their slop into a somewhat bearable format.

I gave the guy a chance, maybe I'm just being a cunt and actually this unedited stream vod will be more than a shitty hasan clone. I skipped to a random part in the video (just before the 20 minute mark) where he gets a £10 donation saying that "using the word 'training' is just marketing meant to make AI more human, we should use the word 'process' instead" and this retard says "oh yea because if you remove everything it's ability to create goes away" (slightly rephrased because it's a fucking stream vod). Like are you genuinely retarded? His idea is that AI is worse than humans because "if I show you 500 reference images and you learn to draw them then you have learnt to draw and so even if you forget then you can still draw but AI will stop working if you remove the reference images". Which is just fucking retarded, for one it's a false equivalence, the AI will be unable to make a certain character if you remove all of the training images for that one character, yes, if a human forgets what a certain character looks like then they will also have forgotten what the character looks like? If you forget things then you have forgotten them? If you 'remove the training images' from either an AI or a human both will be unable to draw that one thing. You can describe it to them and they might get something similar. But if someone gets dementia or something and forgets what Miku looks like then they're not going to magically remember what she looks like when they open csp. And pretending like you can never forget how to paint is also just completely wrong. If you don't practice then you lose that skill, that's how every single skill on earth works. There's a guy called William Utermohlen who actually did try to keep painting throughout his decline due to dementia, you can fucking watch his artistic skills decline as his brain does. You go on twitter and look at the amount of artists who take a year break and then come back and the quality is lower. Pretending that your skill in art can never decline just makes it obvious that you have never actually interacted with any artist, let alone tried yourself. It's also fucking retarded because like have you ever even tried to draw something from memory? There's a small trend on twitter right now of people drawing genshit characters from memory, they're always wrong because humans also heavily rely on reference images. I have seen well over 500 images of a large amount of characters and there's no way I could draw them. Seeing images of a character does not suddenly give you the ability to draw like he implies. He tries to say that looking at reference images makes you able to draw forever which it just doesn't. If that was the case then there would be no such thing as art classes or painting tutorials or anything like that because you just go on google images for two minutes and you're now an expert. Even if he's trying to say that you should paint your own version of each of the 500 images then you will still forget the specifics of certain characters and you aren't learning to draw in that situation, you're just learning to trace which last time I checked was what everyone was accusing AI of. Art isn't just copying images like that, you have to learn the techniques and anatomy and that sort of stuff which you probably won't do just from looking at a finished image. If you listen to what he's saying and actually think about what he's spewing rather than just accepting his word you realise that actually humans do the exact same thing too but I don't think he actually knows how digital art works, if he thinks that you can draw a character without a reference there's no way he is any sort of artist. He then just goes on some reddit tier ramble which like who gives a shit. He wants to say that AI can only make things that already exist but with your heccing imaginationarinos you can do whatever you want. Have you seen the things that people are doing with AI nowadays? Yea it can totally only recreate other preexisting things, let me just go back to the Miku post a while ago where the AI was the one who made the new design and it was the clout chasing bottomfeeder humans who were copying it. Also he still wants to spout the idea that AI NEEDS to have a set of reference images to work which just isn't true, once again these AIs are trained on literal billions of images yet the program itself is only a few GB in size, until someone can open up the folder of an AI program and navigate to a file that shows me the apparent reference images that it was trained on then I'm just not believing them. It might need those images to create the AI but once it's created the code works on it's own. I'm more than happy to be wrong but from everything I have seen the AI does not need any training data to function, it needs the end code created from training data but that does not include any of the raw training data.

Either way there's a reason you only have 13k subs despite uploading at least once per day, no one wants to watch your shitty stream vods and listen to your retarded takes on pointless internet drama, it is incredibly obvious that you are just like every leftie streamer and have no clue what you're talking about yet want to be a preachy cunt about it. I would say don't quit your day job but I mean with this guy's intellectual prowess I doubt he would even know how to.

He's also one of these retards that treats his audience like tiktok faggots who need constant stimulation so sticks a camera pointed at his pet on the stream. As much as the trend is fucking retarded maybe this is the exception, I'd much rather watch and probably listen to the rabbit, probably much smarter. Rabbit looks happy at least.

Artists who are actually able to make a living from art advocate for the use of AI while hobbyist artists who make little to no money from it are opposed to AI.
You'll find all kinds of people on every side of the aisle. Karla Ortiz makes a living from her art but is the most prominent, public critic with the most high profile lawsuit currently underway. Meanwhile I'm sure basically no kiwibros make money from AI art but are having a lot of fun with it.

I can assure you "professional" artists are already using this. They might not all admit to it because of the stigma but it's defintively happening.

But yes, in the end generative AI will be banned. Just like we banned computers and globally decided to not technologically progress anymore after many people didn't like them and they costed many jobs. Oh wait! That never happened.
