Llama 3.1 7B is pretty cool. It's hard to describe, but it's the closest I've felt like I was chatting another person with a lot of knowledge who "got" what I wanted. GPT4 is too stiff and too "nice" to the point where it is fake. For the limited (i.e. not really super high level) uses I have, 3.1 feels the best. It still will hallucinate from previous conversations. It works best if you keep a train of thought. If you ask about engineering and the ask about video games, you might get some super funny hallucinations where a fight game really is teaching valuable engineering lessons.

I'm really all hype for the new 3.1 uncensored llama models from thebloke. I'm with the Zucc here; open source will be the future. Altman just will keep his powerful proprietary model for some niche applications, but OS will be what we most of us will use.

Altman's gambit didn't work out. He didn't want to create a religion, although I think he does like being seen as a sort of "cult leader". For example as what I imagine he was going for is lucrative models; custom made for each different part of the government, only by done OpenAI. Just how many of these image generation apps are out there? is there a list? who pays for this? how are they making money if so many give you free credits? even civitai which is already huge has daily free points.

It runs models locally and has a built in downloader for models. They also have a cloud service you can pay to use but running things locally is completely free and doesn't need an account or to sign up to anything. 13B models run pretty fast for me.

What's the difference with Ollama or LMstudio?

Pretty sure they're both using llama.cpp in the backend for running GGUF inference, so its the same if you're just running your models. LMstudio probably has more backend choices to choose from for wider architecture support, not sure about Ollama itself.
