Surprised nobody has posted this classic yet.
In the wake of Veo3 I've seen numerous people talk about "societal consequences" and whatnot, but I disagree. We've been living in post-truth world for ages. Earlier it was photoshops, deepfakes, some bs article from totallylegitnews.com. All that has changed is that it's more streamlined now. People who consumed that slop will keep consuming it either way, people who were skeptical earlier will become more vigilant. In broad sense.
I do sympathize with having to see lazily made slop as thumbnails/banners/etc, if you spent some time you can actually make them look good. Another topic is engagementslop, but honestly things already went to shit when they introduced tiktok/reels/shorts. With the raise of GenAI it's just more streamlined and automated now. I wouldn't put the sole blame on the tools, but rather the platforms that have perverse incentives for that kind of business. Worst example is Cocomelon, who uses algorithms on kids/toddlers to monitor when they are looking away from screens and then optimize the content accordingly. They should be put on trial for crimes against humanity with the platforms that willingly host their content.
