Because, as far as I can tell, there hasn't been that much SJW salt. They ended up getting their Middle Eastern actors and everyone appears to be fine with it.

On Instagram and Twitter, some people are complaining about Disney casting a half Indiam girl as Jasmine instead of a Middle Eastern girl.

According to Instagram, this Guyanese model who happened to cosplay as Jasmine should have been cast. Doesn't matter if she could act or not, she was supposedly robbed of the part.

The real salt is from geriatric Will Smith trying to play the genie.

It does seem like a poor casting choice. I don't mean that Disney should try to replicate William's performance, because anything they come up with would only be a poor imitation. They should take his character in a new direction.

What they absolutely should do is bring back Gilbert Gottfried. This guy was in just about every piece of media related to Disney's Aladdin including the TV series, if Iago is in the live action version they gotta bring him back.

How is being fluent in English not necessary? Disney would have to hire an English language coach and she'd still bumble through her lines in broken English and everyone would hate it. An English language movie has to have actors that can speak English.

How do these actors feel when they are constantly told they look white or aren't dark enough? Most of them wouldn't actually pass for white anyway. And then everyone who is a precious POC is telling them that they aren't black or brown enough.

Did people actually think they'd go a' castin' out in some Middle Eastern hole for the perfect Jasmine? Not gonna happen.

Will Smith as the Genie? They should have gotten Sinbad. That way all of those people who swear he was in Kazaam can start freaking out.

Disney is introducing a new character in the movie, a prince that Jasmine is apparently going to be forced to marry, and he's being played by a white guy, the only one in the film.

This is clearly a thing to get incredibly assblasted over.

The cast is mostly white but I have no doubt that it's already better than whatever Disney can dish out.

I think it's a little too late to wonder if it's 'too soon' after Robin Willaims death to make a remake of Aladdin considering that 'Jumanji' abomination that came out this year. It had nothing to do with the original movie except for the title.

Najla is right.Compare a levantine,a magrebhi and a bedouin and you will see difference.It's because the non-arab tribes of these zones where arabized and depend of the zone will be sorta difference(And we have also the afro arab thing ).

He's playing Freddie Mercury in the Queen biopic that's coming out next year. I'd assume he can.
