I am not optimistic about Alex keeping Ari off of social media but do wonder what caused her to change her mind. I know that the logical response would be that she did it to cut the Douchebro Challenge Podcast's source of content off and to stop people from calling DCFS, but Alex doesn't actually operate like that. Her previous response to those suggestions has been to double down, as we heard about in the "my FUCKING baby" speech.

All she's posted today is one highly-filtered selfie:

Alex is likely a drunk and narcissist, but she also is relatively smart. Relatively. So I think she finally realized that the douchdad and his minions weren't going to let up, plus her former caregiver is not either. Coupled with her family telling her not to post Ari so much, and CPS coming around, also Ari at her grandparents a lot, she decided mommy vlogging wasn’t the best way to keep money coming in. I’m sure we’ll still see Ari once in a while. But if views are dropping she isn’t going to continue letting that happen, if possible. She gets disability, as does Ari (which she should be putting in a college fund) but she probably needs her social media money too.

So I think this is her decision. It may not last long though.

If it's anything like my late brother's situation, she'll continue getting a portion until she's 18. My nieces collected a lump sum from his social security and a percentage (I can't remember what) from his disability.

I think it was mentioned upthread that it probably is one of the few comforts Alex can control. The sun feels good.

She definitely spends too much time in the sun but it’s one of the few things I can’t fault her for.

I call it lizard mode when there’s a sunny day in winter and I sit in the sun for a bit.

But ffs put on some sunscreen! I know she doesn’t do much but wouldn’t everything she can move hurt more if she’s crispy?

Like when her nose is burned, does her (cpap equivalent) not hurt?

For someone who is supposedly against ableism, she sure does love positive attention in the form of inspiration porn. And I'm sure she'll do mental gymnastics to justify how pictures of Ari we've already seen don't count as showing Ari. That's a very childlike mentality: trying to obey the letter of the law but not the spirit.
