I don’t wanna be too big of a Debbie Downer here but Ari’s odds are not great. She’s the child of two wildly personality disordered people, both sides of family have addiction issues, she is already being bounced around between multiple caregivers and largely abandoned by her bio parents, will likely be parentified by Alex, possibly will be exposed to sexual predators by Alex, and Florida public schools aren’t gonna do her any favors either. I hope the Smiths can be a buffer but they are also the people responsible for Noah.

The Smiths are in a very good school district. It's still Florida, but the public high school Ari would attend is excellent. The grandparents do have three normal children together; Noah appears to be the bad seed. These are the things I tell myself when I'm trying to have hope for Ari.

Just because there are not great odds does not absolve anyone of responsibility.

I think Ari has a chance to be a really great person. Lots of people have terrible parents and go on to do great things. Maybe in 10 years Ari will need more structure and involvement because of some things, but she is far from a lost cause.

There have been amazing people who have come from so much worse in terms of backgrounds.

It's a Chicago Bulls jersey with #1. Google says that number was mostly recently held by Derrick Rose, but I'm not into men's pro basketball and don't know if that's significant. In the original 2019 photo of her wearing that jersey, she's got her arm around some other woman in a Bulls jersey. Maybe just a Chicago thing? Maybe the friend (former friend?) was a fan? I’m glad people call her out and don’t just YAS QUEEN her all over her comment section. She writes these posts like she’s some mother of the year who is just held back by this gosh darn wheelchair, and it seems like her audience isn’t buying it. If anything, Alex being wheelchair bound has made her somewhat of a better parent (well, at least a present one), since we all know an able bodied Alex would have drank herself to death by now or would be well on her way to it while off somewhere in an enmeshed BPD clusterfuck rehab cycle with Noah, while they both ignored their daughter.
