His behavior hasn't really changed since his time on Something Awful. If he were a troll, he must be a horrible one if he sent $1,500 to the owner of the forum he wanted to troll.
Similarly, if he were a troll on Kiwifarms, he must be a horrible one to consistently engage and entertain the people following his thread here for three weeks straight.
Could he not be genuine? Possibly. I truly believe this isn't the case. But he can't fake how much time he has invested towards doing this, and that alone is enough to make him a joke. If the cost of this entertainment is giving him the attention he so desperately craves, I'm not above that fee of entry.

as someone that's been people-watching this dude for 6-7 years, @0 1 is correct in that alex has never changed. if anything he's worse now than he's ever been but still just as consistent, and I only found out he was a fucked up rapey weirdo with abusive tendencies afterwards so it's not some justice bias. if anything, he's a deranged schizo that is also seeking attention constantly as a way to validate himself in his fucked up nightmare vision of reality that he lives in.

Let's not flatter the guy, he isn't especially interesting. He doesn't actually do anything to discuss. That's part of why he has to up the crazy act, so that people will think he's interesting and not abandon him like all the women in his life have.
Oh, that's another reason that I'm fairly sure he ups the crazy level, because one topic it's clear he's very, very sensitive about is women thinking he's disgusting/taking out restraining orders against him and the idea of him dying alone, which, while I sympathize, isn't outside the realm of possibility when a man is in his mid 30s yet behaves like an attention starved teen girl from 2006 myspace.
I was curious about this too, so I showed a therapist friend of mine his psych eval and rants. He said he couldn't diagnose anyone over the internet (of course), but he gave me his opinion.
The psychiatrist who evaluated Alex in 2016 gave him a diagnosis of "significant mental disorder exacerbated by traumatic brain injury." That's mentalfag speak for "pile of cracked nuts." Alex is so fucked in the head at this point that it's impossible to sort out which issue is causing what, so the psychiatrist noped out of providing a firm diagnosis.
Alex had previously been diagnosed as bipolar, but during the psych eval, he denied any of the symptoms. The psychiatrist didn't buy it and referenced previous reports from hospitalizations. Alex also showed strong signs of narcissism (the attention-seeking behavior we see here) and chronic hypomania, a less severe form of mania sustained for long periods. He's impulsive and entirely lacks insight, which prevents him seeing how his behavior will affect him long term.
The diagnostic criteria around schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder (bipolar type), and mania with psychosis are still evolving. My friend sent me an article published this year that's still debating them. Although Alex points to the psych eval as proof that he isn't schizo, my friend said that's far from definitive proof. First, schizophrenia almost always develops during the mid- to late-twenties, with cases extending into the mid-thirties. Alex was 28 when the psych eval was done. Second, the two sessions the psychiatrist had with Alex aren't enough to catch the early signs of schizophrenia. Episodes start out sporadic, and patients are often lucid enough in the early stages to lie about what they're experiencing. Third, head trauma victims are one and a half times as likely to develop schizophrenia as a non-denthead.
In my friend's opinion, Alex has either schizoaffective disorder or psychotic mania, but he can't tell for sure without observing him outside of a manic episode. If Alex is still delusional when he isn't manic, he's schizoaffective. If he's only delusional during the manic episodes, it's mania with psychosis. He's leaning toward schizoaffective because the mania and delusions appear to be persistent and unremitting.
