She’s too fat for a carrier to be comfy. The amount of mass pressing on her chest anyway is extreme and if you add a hefty baby onto it it would be very uncomfortable. I’ve heard bigger mums I know say this (and be upset about it because the MomGestapo insists carrying is a must .)
She isn’t using it regularly, only for the videos IMO. It’s also obvious she doesn’t use it as the baby has a very flat head - yes that’s something that happens with preemies but if you hold them upright or give them a lot of tummy time it resolves fast in the early months. She isn’t spending any significant time HOLDING him, whether in a carrier or just sat chilling.
I must have been the most disorganized, stupid, slob of a new mom. At this stage of new parenthood, I felt as though I couldn’t find the time or energy to leave the house.
I was still struggling to get enough sleep, shower often enough for civilized society and keep up with laundry.
Hair appointments? Manicures? What were those?
Well, that was my life for a good few years. I had a couple who slept ok and a couple who didn’t, and man, the difference in how you feel is intense. The first year is basically survival, we lived in complete (happy) chaos for a while and as they became more amenable to it things got more organised.
It's wild how often you see superfats like Alex go without a bra. Why do they do it?
I’ve wondered this too. Jude for example. I wonder if it’s because bras have an actual number on? Like ‘this is a 52 inch band, what the fuck?’ There’s no whitewashing it with torrid type sizing.
Anyone have any the current lore regarding colic treatment in infants. I’m curious.
They don’t say much tbh. Colic water exists, no longer has gin in it and seems to be some herbal seed extract. It doesn’t work. Some people recommend that silicon stuff to form a layer in the stomach but the only thing that works is ‘pick baby up, wait a year, put baby down.’ I don’t even believe it’s their stomachs. Some babies are just very sensitive and like to be glued to you 24/7. There’s a theory it’s linked to migraine as well.
Poor little Andy, he doesn’t seem very loved does he?
