I really hate to be That Guy but one set of ratty socks isn't a pattern.
I get having comfort clothes and loving them no matter what state they're in - but socks? A pair of socks that a kid's big toe goes straight through needs to be thrown away. How they come through the wash and Alicia dead ass folds them and gives them back to the kid over and over again is... just bizarre. It's wet and cold where they live. And I can't even tell what color they were originally.
Besides being disgusting I can't see how this is helping the kid, who reportedly needs extra time and attention to learn how to take care of himself, recognize the point where a piece of clothing has become impractical and get rid of it.
Example A - Alishuh once spent $400 (?) on cologne for N and D
And then when J wanted to get one she told him no, while Our 5-Year-Old With Autism was probably licking a mirror. J is already locked in for life damn it, she's working on the foster kids now!
It's October now and no one has mentioned them going back to their mom like they were supposed to in August. Alicia actually seems to be planning on having them indefinitely.
What's the over/under on Alicia letting these kids cool in the system for months/a year while thinking about how accepting them into their home would affect youtube? (which, she admits in a video, it has) I guess it took her that long to remember that John 14:18 is her guiding scripture.
Anyway, she talks out her decision making process in this video right here. In the end she acknowledges it's a bad idea but God told her to do it, so, y'know

I think some muddying of the waters is going on here, and it's not just on their socks.
Alicia doesn't know where these kids would go if she doesn't take them, since they're a sibling group (of minority status!) There's just no one else who will take them. Except she does know where they would go if she said no. Because they've been there for a year. In foster care. While she was thinking about if she was going to say no or not.
I'm realizing that Alicia is quite delete happy with her content. There are two specific videos I would like to reference for this post, but they are gone now and don't appear to be archived elsewhere. She's a wily one! I guess for now I'll just describe them and trust that it happened until/if they resurface.
Video one was shot while leaving the courthouse after being awarded temporary custody of N and D. Alicia was on her way to pick them up and made the John 14:18 proclaimation - "I will not leave you as orphans, I will go to you."
The situation the children were coming from was described in vague detail.
Video two was shot some months after N and D joined their family and was focused on an increase in trolling and bullying behavior. If I remember correctly this video was made in the car by herself. In it Alicia admitted her hestitation to take in the kids because the family was worried that this would happen - people would hate them for being too kind and too generous and too loving to these kids who she loves so much now and won't change her decision for anything and wished she made it sooner.
Or something roughly along those lines.
It makes it all very interesting to wonder how much she would want to keep this kids in her house if viewership had actually gone down afterward. Instead it exploded. N is probably the fans' favorite kid, for mostly fucking degenerate reasons. D brings his own supporting cast with his girlfriend and her brother who are both in her vlogs on a regular basis,
It would hurt the channel if they went home at this point.
