TGWTG was their Neverland, they didn't have to grow up while everyone else had to do with going to college and getting a typical job while they go to make videos about movies or games or comics etc. However they still aged and once they left Neverland, they realized how fucked they were for putting all their eggs into the online video basket. People like Linkara, Allison, and Filmbrain are screwed once their e-careers are done. What are they going to do for a living? They probably have to work retail until the day they die or just leech off a family member like Spoony. People like Welshy were the smart ones who did it as a hobby so once they got tired of making videos, they could easily stop without a problem.

It's just annoying at this point because it's been almost a decade now. We get it, working for him wasn't all that great but like someone else pointed out, they act like they were traumatized or something and it's like no, you just had a crappy job like any other job that sucks. You move on and get over it. Unless Doug threatened to sue them if they ever bring his name up (which I doubt he would do for obvious reason), it's childish to keep acting like he's Voldemort. For real. I mean I can understand why they got that false sense of security because they got caught up in the excitement of working as a "cool" (at the time) freelance job that was online in the beginning of YouTube movie/tv/comicreview content but like you said, it was realistically foolish to put all their eggs in one basket, especially when some of these people weren't that popular even on TGWTG. They got enough to get by but they didn't have the personality to truly capture a long lasting audience. Lindsay Ellis as annoying as she is was one of the smarter ones where she at least continued to work when things got bad. It probably helped that during her Nostalgia Chick days, she actually had an endearing personality and her BA in Film Studies helped ith her film reviews as well. Not that you need a degree to review film but you know what I mean lol.

And when she cut ties with Channel Awesome, she immediately went to work with her own content and the audience she amassed from her NC days followed her. She also wrote and published two books. Whether you like them or not, the point is that she kept going and worked on things, things that she was good at which was writing. So even though she ended up being a victim of the mob she contributed to and how it hilariously backfired on her, I have to give her some credit for being smart with how she handled herself before that, especially when you compare her to Allison who is barely getting by.

I feel like Allison's problem aside from her arrogance is that there's nothing really that stands out about her. She's just some chick who reviews movies and tv shows but lots of women are doing that these days and a lot of them do it better than she does plus have an engaging personality to match. Allison is just boring and I don't know why. Like I've said a few pages ago, I did find her reviews on Charmed endearing but when I tried to watch her other reviews, I didn't enjoy them at all and I think it's because I just don't jibe with what little personality she does have. It's truly perplexing to me because I didn't even really like Phelous' content all that much neither but I'd rather watch his reviews then Allison because he does have a somewhat much more engaging personality. I just feel like Allison needs to get a part time IRL job, she needs to get out of the house more and live some life beyond just trying to start E-drama for attention, she could use the fresh air.

Right I don't disagree with that, she only got lucky and even then, she still didn't have the luck on her side to truly prosper when her time with Channel Awesome came to an end. Also I'm sure that back in those early days, she had the novelty of being one of the few women reviewers on YouTube in a time where there weren't as many women reviewing nerd/geek media. But 5-6+ years later, more women have gotten into the genre and making engaging content that blow Allison to the wayside and makes her lose even more viewer attention than she may have had during her early days.
