TGWTG Allison Pregler / Obscurus Lupa / Movie Nights - The vindictive leader of #ChangeTheChannel, GOTIS personified, vendetta against The Cinema Snob

She's one of the few troons I've ever listened to who is actually interesting. Metokur did a full-on interview with her and some other troon which is worth a listen.

This might be going against the grain, but I don't think Lupa killed Spoony. At worst, she just played a major cuntish role in CA distancing themselves from him.

But CA is exceptional, and getting kicked out of there is totally survivable.

I'm not 100% sure what killed Spoony, but the dropoff in content creation doesn't match up with that dumb joke he made. He actually had some decent content for a while after leaving TGWTG (Counter Monkey, his Final Fantasy XIII review, etc.). Something else finally broke him. Possibly April.

Spoony's fatal descent began when he began embracing social media. Being fucked over by CA wasn't a death sentence since many of his friends (and CA contributors) were still willing to do shit with him. Being ditched by his GF didn't screw him over either. @LordKaT can probably tell you better, but Spoony's greatest enemy has always been his own ego and this has not changed.

What spelled the end of Spoony being productive was him nose-diving into Twitter, which made his existing psychoses infinitely worse. He posts dozens of times a day, occasionally a hundred or more times per day, frequently posting random shit that struggles to get double-digit likes. He literally posted a Tweet while I was writing this. Twitter fits him like a glove; he can sperg as much as he wants and if anyone dares call him out on his shit Spoony can just block them. It's quite literally his hugbox, and Spoony openly brags about this being the case.

I don't mind Lupas content and her Movie Nights videos make amusing background noise.

However this just shows that if you want to enjoy something you need to ignore the person behind it.

I think her content got worse when she made Movie Nights. On a technical level she got better but the videos got longer. I think the average Movie Nights episode is about 30-40 minutes which is about 20 minutes too long. Even her 15 minute videos had a lot of comic thuds. Even when she had a co-host like Phelan or Brad it still wasn't great because the convo's lacked focus. To go back to Red Letter Media, when they talk about the movie they talk about it from the beginning to the end with a little back and forth to highlights (You're mother's a bitch!). Whereas in Allison's videos with co-host(s) it's very unfocused.

Agreed. Her collab videos are a chore to get through. They're longer (or at least feel much longer) and everyone involved is less funny and interesting than they are on their own.

You'd expect more chemistry from friends who are all used to being on camera.

From the first few of Movie Nights I also never laughed or felt like there was a lovable charm to the jokes she made. She used to do that with Charmed and Baywatch and you could tell she was just having fun with it. When Brad does criticisms on a shitty movie he also pokes fun at it (and himself), same with Phelous, same with Redlettermedia. I don't know why a ton of people who started out just enjoying the laughs try being all professional and serious about analyzing a film like I want to hear some serious lecture on it. I just want to watch a review that's fun while still seeing the valid points they might make about it.

I dunno if this changed after she got more into Movie Nights but I didn't care enough to continue watching. Now seeing how much of a bitter husk she became I won't be returning.

The way I view it, Spoony was going to go downhill no matter what happened. Lupa just ended up being a key point in what did eventually happen with him.

Had she not pulled her stunt with him, something else would of happened that would of turned him into who he is today.

I can't stand Allison. I tried watching her content when she was starting out, but something was just off with her. (Aside of her masculine voice)

I thought it was just me who found her voice off-putting. She always sounded like she had a sinus infection or some kind of speech impediment carryover from her childhood, it bothered me too much that I would only watch her if something of hers caught my eye. Lupa was okay in small doses otherwise, and kind of attractive (she's a natural redhead, yes? Can't believe she chose to bleach her pretty hair), but goddamn she must have some kind of complex to have gotten this bitchy.

There are a metric fuckton of guest/anonposters on the DHI thread that thirst hard for her. It's kind of a meme and most of them are just shitposting because of the fact its a meme and still gets a reaction out of other posters. Although I have to wonder how many of them are actually just Phelous.

Anyway here's a comparison she posted herself of 2009 v 2019 and it's a stark difference

Guess transforming into a bitter banshee on twitter will do shit like that to you.

Age hit her like a bag of bricks
