TGWTG Allison Pregler / Obscurus Lupa / Movie Nights - The vindictive leader of #ChangeTheChannel, GOTIS personified, vendetta against The Cinema Snob

How is not getting a copy of the movie a negative?
I don't understand the DVD complaint either. Especially since a) even Doug admitted that entire production was a shitshow and b) the entire movie was posted online, so there wasn't even a point to owning the DVD.

Good God. Forget a dead horse, this is just a straight up vat of glue at this point.

I don't know about you guys, but if I was involved in the creation of, say, a sad excuse for a movie and everything going on behind the scenes was as horrible as #CTC claimed it was, then I sure as shit wouldn't want a dvd of the project. It would just remind me of the hell I went through whenever the camera was turned off.

You know, when people work for a shitty employer, they eventually look for something new and move the fuck on.

But hey, I bet kids in 2029 will really LOVE to hear an internet has-been prattle on an on about how she was paid in exposure when working for Channel Awesome. That's fine, too, I guess.

Considering how low her views are and I don't think she's making much on the patreon, she probably had to because she can't afford anything else.
Why not just... go with what she has then? IIRC, she's a natural redhead, and soulless gingerhood notwithstanding, that's a pretty nice hand to be dealt in the looks department. What purpose does going truck stop hooker peroxide blonde serve?

It's gonna be fun watching the former CA people shuffle through their existence. Sooner or later, they will have to look for something new to do, since Patreon and ad-revenue will run dry.

I doubt anyone has any idea of what they will do when that happens. You think people like Bam Magera are pitiful, washed up hacks, wait for these guys, who -at their height- were only some vaguely popular dudes on a free streaming platform.
Some might have been smart enough to built up something as a sidegig and will work as writers or whatever, but not many will actually be that smart and will be lost up shit creek without a paddle.

Gonna be fun.
I’m sure a few of them are taking a good long look at Spoony to see where their futures might be heading. A lot of these people only had retail jobs before going to Channel Awesome, so unless they managed to build up a teeny bit of popularity, a lot of these folks are going to have to find work outside the industry. Even though his numbers aren’t great, Linkara might be able to secure something. Angry Joe has a board game company that has worked with Capcom. And Lindsay Ellis has a novel coming out next year from an actual publisher. How much longer before Allison finds herself taking a weekend gig at Target?

Not a big fan of Joe and I think Lindsay is full of shit, but I have to give it to them:
They are doing it right. Lindsay has married, so she can become a wine mom with an allowance paid for by her husband. Joe might even be the best of the bunch, starting a board game company sounds kinda neat.

Every single one of the guys at CA should have started investing in their future the moment they had the chance, come Patreon and Kickstarter, they should have looked into ways of making money and using their fickle moment of popularity to achieve something.
Doug's idea of starting a major website that combines a shitton of reviewers was a pretty good idea (from an economic pov, that is) but he fucked it up by employing utter nitwits to manage it. Buying a studio that he rents out to other people wasn't totally bad either.
At least he had something.
Dunno what Benzaie is doing now, but he had a quick fling with french TV production, so there's that.

Allison seems to operate under the impression she can ride her e-fame until retirement and reality is going to give her a swift punch in the guts about that plan sooner or later.

That exposure is the only reason a lot of people even know she existence. The rest know her from bitching about CTC on twitter.

I agree with you, but I’m curious as to what some of the earliest CA contributors (and it was only the earliest CA people who had enough popularity that could be harnessed to their benefit) saw as the endgame to this. There were not a lot of other web personalities at the time that had either crossed over or found sustainable success. I’m guessing some thought they’d eventually get TV deals, or that the internet reviewing trend would keep expanding and become this generation’s game shows, a type of comfort food.

I think TV deals might have been a goal for some people, but I don't know if that would have been great for 'em. Like, in a sense TV studios would wanna change general concepts to fit their ideas, and unless these guys had love and passion for the stuff they put out, they would just accept the changes like bitches even if their fans would say "Well, this isn't why we watched you originally".

She can't be earning that much even now? I do wonder how the has beens who only get a few hundred a month enjoy any sort of quality of life, let alone pay for a house or invest in a pension

In typical NEET fashion, they most likely sponge off mommy and daddy, they have a tugboat courtesy of the taxpayers, or they entered into a relationship with someone that provides the actual income. Working a typical 9-5 job like everyone else is seen as beneath them.

I can certainly say that Spoony wanted to be TV or movie star(he still has "actor" in his twitter bio) and Nasty Cockslut wanted to be in the comic industry. Doug probably wanted to make movies or some shit like this.

We know a lot of them did have ambitions for bigger things. Doug really expected to make it into Hollywood off the back of Channel Awesome. Linkara wanted to be a writer. Spoony had all sorts of entertainment dreams. Part of the reason why he may have gone downhill the way he did was realizing he wasn't going to achieve those dreams, which was more than likely a crushing blow to his mental state.

I don't necessarily believe that they were focused on that so much in the beginning. You have to remember that most of these people were working shit tier jobs that had no chance of improving. They were all looking for an escape because they didn't want to be doing what they were currently doing. And they found it. They weren't really thinking about what the endgame possibilities were, they were just taking an uncharted journey to see where it led them.

They had nothing better behind them so why not take that gamble with their lives?

As time went on and their popularities started to grow, I think that's when they all started to believe that they found their meal ticket to bigger and better things.

Allison and Phelan's obligatory Halloween picture. Because she can't resist being zany 80s anything and he can't resist his Venkman fetish.

Somehow I doubt this is his genuine reaction when he looks at Allison.

#ChangeTheChannel continues to desperately mine for unrevealed Doug stories to stay afloat...

Allison 01.png

I assume "two years later" is in reference to the start of Change the Channel and that's when E-Rod learned the secret of how Allison left CA. So, apparently E-Rod was a big Allison Pregler fan (he makes it sound like he watched her videos unlike Doug) but not big enough to search out Allison's blog post just after she left explaining that her departure from Channel Awesome was on bad terms. Otherwise, why would he find their reaction to him bringing up her name odd?

Speaking of E-Rod, a couple months back, Cinematic Venom got into a fight with him and even SheRod (the name E-Rod's wife calls herself) got involved. This all resulted in a since deleted meltdown where Venom turned against Change The Channel. So, now Cinematic Venom is threatening to strike back at #CtC with a new video that claims it will expose them. Allison loves drama so having her former lapdog turned sworn enemy plot her downfall must give her a real charge, right?

He's not even balding. He's pretty much completely bald on top. Here's his most recent picture from Twitter.

He combs over the handful of wispy hairs he has and it looks absolutely terrible. This is one of the youngest Channel Awesome alumni.
Looks like a spergy Max Branning

In other news Brad's cat Chloe passed away

Though it is surprising that Doug had never heard of Gymkata before since it has a degree of infamy amongst bad movie connoisseurs, ERod seems to have this naive belief that Doug was super familiar with Allison’s output that he should have known it through her video covering it. Channel Awesome had dozens of contributors and the idea that Doug, the creative lead of the company and one of its most prolific video makers, would be able to watch all these videos while still keeping to his own schedule is absurd. I’m sure he probably watched one or two videos when these people start out just to see if they were on brand, but ERod seems to be coming at it from a stupid fan’s perspective, which is what he was before becoming a stupid contributor. As if Doug were the chief editor of the CA wiki.
