TGWTG Allison Pregler / Obscurus Lupa / Movie Nights - The vindictive leader of #ChangeTheChannel, GOTIS personified, vendetta against The Cinema Snob

It makes you wonder if CTC would have succeeded in its endeavors If JW wasn’t outed as what he was.
Depends on one's definition of "success" in this context. The Walkers' and Michaud's heads on pikes over an Illinois overpass? Permanently handicapping their ambitions (as if they hadn't already been doing that on their own for years)?

For Lupa, I’d say Doug Walker being forced to quit the internet in shame. If your ulterior motive is destroying Doug, I’d say success given how much Doug has stagnated.

Getting used and thrown out by management, being overshadowed by the main star, bigger competition catching up and surpassing them, one of the members being involved in a sexual scandal that was covered up.

Sounds like they got plenty of the Hollywood experience.
All that’s left is waiting tables or going back to the small town they came from with their dreams in tatters.

That's fair ... Though, if that were me, and I had to pay for myself for all of my other expenses (like traveling, hotel, etc.), then I would have had the common sense to take care of my own food as well personally.
My understanding is that Channel Awesome covered travel and lodging for the contributors who appeared in the anniversary specials. They were not being paid to appear in the specials, and since being in them usually led to a disruption in their own production cycle (therefore posing a potential threat to their revenue streams), they were encouraged to film their own crossover episodes when they weren’t shooting. And even though I know this was just in service of silly internet movies and reviews, that does sound exhausting, but that’s usually the case when it comes to amateur productions.

So they at least covered SOME expenses, then?

Not saying that Doug and Rob are innocent here (because they aren't), but the CTC document paints things out to be worse than they actually were, I'd say. Bunch of immature people who chose to sulk, not do anything about it at the time, and then act like a victim a decade after the fact.

And now they won't shut up about it because they lost their relevancy, and talking about Channel Awesome again is an attempt to hold onto what little e-fame they have left.

The whole CTC movement is just Z list internet idiots like Lotus Prince, Marzgurl, Lupa. Nostalgia Chick and so on, trying to be relevant by bawling about how bad CA was, yet they all had no ethical issues working with them in order to boost their own fame.
Not to defend her but the Nostalgia Chick is actually one of the few former CA producers that actually made it big and distanced themselves from their old content with being a video essayist who is major in the Breadtube circles.

And she has a novel due to be published next year. Honestly, I think she was probably the only one to let things die, though she did a half ass torching her Chick past. Honestly, Lindsay paints herself as this intellectual, but isn’t as much as a chameleon as Linkara, but she’s one step ahead of Lupa by not going on about CA to look like a bitter individual.

And she has a novel coming out next year from a major publisher. Meanwhile, Doug and Allison are trembling at the prospect of being hit with copyright strikes with each video they upload. I, too, don’t want to sound like I’m trying to defend or endorse Lindsay’s work, but I do find it admirable that she’s trying to express her creativity by doing something other than shitting over someone else’s work.

I don’t think anyone is, and people will certainly speculate about the level of quality, but the fact that maybe only Latza managed to come out of internet drama looking better, more power to Lindsay if you ask me.

And if you went back and told anyone that 4 years ago, that Latza of all people would triumph they would never believe you, it's crazy.

I watched Lindsay's video about getting published but something still bothered me about it. I know she was trying to claim that she got no special treatment and still struggled for a decade like the majority of authors, but her solution after struggling was that someone reached out to her on Twitter and pushed her through the noise into a book deal. It wasn't through anything she did specifically it was because she got picked up by someone willing to put the work in with editing and fight for her to publishers. That's not realistic for anyone without a huge following. Agents aren't foaming at the mouth to represent nobodies. She defeated the exact point she was trying to make. If that one agent didn't land in her DMs she'd still be going nowhere with her trunk novel. And it's annoying because you'll never get a fair review of the book since her fans will push it into a best seller and give her 5 stars on Amazon. But I'm willing to bet it sucks. She doesn't even write her own video essays anymore she has a team that does all the work. But I mean good for her for having a dream and continuing to pursue it in the face of constant doubt.

I wish I could say the same for Allison. She's currently in the struggle til you make it phase but I don't see it ever working out for her. She doesn't have "it". She has been at it 10 years and never improved, in fact she has only gotten worse. She has no charisma, she's not beautiful, and her points aren't worth listening to. Even if someone famous shined a light on her I don't see her catching on. She will always be a low tier youtube personality.

And she never had a business plan beyond "get e-famous". Now she's just flailing at the past, in more ways than one, and looking worse each time she does it.
How much you wanna bet she thinks that if it wasn't for CA, she'd be rolling in dosh with a massive fanbase and that it is somehow Gargamel's Doug's fault that she didn't make it.
Kind of like Dobson blames his failure to go to Disney on anime.

For a while, CA was the only show in town. So if Allison didn’t have them, she’d be even more of a nobody if you ask me.

I don’t think her bitterness towards Channel Awesome has anything to do with them holding her back (apart from the complaints from numerous contributors that Doug was promoted over their own work), but that what success she has is intrinsically tied to Channel Awesome, a company with which she had a miserable experience. I know this is hysterical in retrospect since she won’t shut the fuck up about Channel Awesome, but before ChangetheChannel, she was getting weary of her fans innocently asking her about her Channel Awesome days.
