Honest question, I can see it helping BigCorp in two ways sorta:
first they can cry in investors meetings "See? If you count pirating numbers it would have turned a profit, keep on financing us and crack down on piracy on the internet [sic];
second, it enhances visibility of the product on social media.
But this second one is only indirect (pirated and then contributes to discussion in public squares) and also, "all publicity is good publicity" is not actually true: negative attention harms sales pretty much universally.
Dunnoh, maybe I'm just coping to justify the praxis of "procuring" shit normie friends will like and then having fun (mildly) drunken diatribes.

You'd think there would be Total Ghoul Death once muties and humans realized almost any ghoul is at threat of turning into a mindless zombie unless they pop drugs every day (which seems to be at precarious supply). Whatever advantages ghouls may have had before (fooling ferals, pre-war knowledge, long life spans, immunity to radiation, etc.) is made null by them essentially being at constant risk of becoming an average San Francisco resident. What Bethesda never "got" about the Setting was that the World of Fallout was not "post-apocalypse". The Apocalypse was history. This was a "new" world, but it was just the same old humanity adapting to the new world and thriving.

Not just that, bethesda thinks fallout is the 50's but with crazy atompunk tech and gendershit thrown in, they don't get that 2077 was the future according to the 50's, not the 50's.

The setting would make more sense if the lone wanderer was setting out into the wasteland 100 days after the war. Not 100 YEARS.

Their idea is that the capital wasteland got way more nuked than the west coast so there's not much left to rebuild.......which would make sense if it wasn't for all the buildings still standing not just 100 but 200 years later.

You got examples of tabula rasa like egypt itself where the old civilization ended and the people who are there since while mostly genetically the same have almost nothing of the civilization's culture and completely forgot the language, writing and history. The only reason we know anything about ancient egypt is because europeans in the 19th century decided to go around and rediscovered it, same with the mesopotamian civilizations like babylon and sumer, the later so forgotten there weren't even mentions in other stuff like the bible, it was rediscovered when they rediscovered babylon which itself ATT was thought to be a religious myth.

But back to fallout, for that to work the people in the capital wasteland would've to have no idea what america is, probably not even speak english anymore. They would've no idea what the place was, what the country this city was a part of or its history. When they find any written words they can't read them because its a forgotten dead language like hieroglyphs. Woulda make for a much bigger culture shock when vault dwellers come out still stuck in the old days, like an ancient egyptian from 2000 BC waking up in modern cairo.

However doing this would take a ton of creative work and the gaming industry its creatively bankrupt...

Only one that touched on issues like NPP’s, refineries & chem facilities going critical from no maintenance was the worst one, Fear The Walking Dead. Maybe writers should have to watch the Life After People documentary series. But expecting this level of realism from a videogame show seems silly. I didn’t hold the Twisted Metal show to this standard.

The idea of ghouls being technically on a timer isnt a bad idea by itself. It turns their condition into a double edged sword. Tho if I had my way, I would make it clear that ghouls can keep it at bay through not irradiating themselves too badly, keep a sharp strong mind and relatively healthy lifestyle. A pre-war ghoul that is still sane should be a testament of the strength and determination of the human mind, even if they are aware the day will come even that wont be enough anymore...that doesnt mean they wont remain fighting.

I doubt there isnt someone in the mainstream media who doesnt care about The Message or even knows its complete bullshit but keep it to themselves for the sake of their careers.

I have never played the games, knew shit all about the lore or the world. The show has issues, it started off as pretty decent. I'm curious and enjoying. Liked it more and more as it went on. So I would say I really enjoyed it and look forward to more. Hate me all you want, but I don't know the show. I also understand it as not a realistic representation of any sort of reality.

It's a mixture of both, but I'd call it more ignorance, not stupidity. I have listened to countless interviews, podcasts and discussions with writers. So many times people who have written really great stuff, with good ideas will just casually reveal themselves to actually only be working on a superficial level. They're read a lot, they've watched a lot. They have many great influences for ideas. They have the intelligence and skill to craft stories and come up with ideas. Yet it's all very shallow. I wouldn't say surface level, but it's not a very deep understanding of anything. Just enough to get by and make it seem convincing. They have a brief story of why something is, but not an understanding of why it actually is. That's part of the skillset of being a writer. It however then just leads to plenty of things that don't make sense if they push ideas too far. With what I think is a dunning kruger effect of not knowing how little they understand.

It's just something really common I've noticed. You'll be listening to a writer who has made seemingly smartly written stuff talk in conversation. They seem intelligent. Then depending on where the conversation goes it'll be revealed they have extreme ignorance and lack of understanding on things which I consider basic knowledge for intelligent people.

They also do write themselves into situations where they have conceits and while they know it makes no sense, doesn't work. They stick to the idea because to them the story is more important than if it makes sense or actually would work.

I can't wrap my head around the idea that you guys are saying the NCR can't have been destroyed by taking out Shady Sands because the NCR was too big (nevermind that the show never even claims that the NCR is destroyed, and in fact states that the capitol had been moved elsewhere prior to being bombed) and civilization should be rebuilt already by the time the show takes place but also the NCR couldn't have possibly begun rebuilding civilization over the course of two hundred years by setting up a power grid that operates on fusion power that they know is available and installing lightbulbs.

Somehow Bethesda fucked up Fallout by simultaniously making civilization not advanced enough and also too advanced?

And again, nuking Shady Sands is a pre-Bethesda plot idea, and the NCR struggling to hold their territory is a major plot point of New Vegas. All these problems you all are finding with the show are either problems with Fallout in general, not specifically Bethesda, or are caused by infering things you don't like are happening that aren't even in the show.

Watched it, enjoyed it, but it completely raped the lore of not only New Vegas, but of 1 & 2 as well This is my late post to get out my pent up spergery.

Most lore friendly part was nukes only destroy stuff in their immediate crater zone, and everything around it gets hit by a mildly damaging wind.

I thought it was OK. If you're a casual fan or enjoyed Fallout 4/76, you'd probably enjoy it, but if you are more invested in the lore and history and general feel of the pre-Bethesda series, you'd most likely dislike it.

I see the series as more of continuing the Bethesda version of the Fallout universe. Everything looks gritty, but it's sterile-feeling; there's no real sense of consequences or that the world is lived-in. You have familiar character types like ghouls, but it's all sanitized, with little in the way of how incredibly fucked-up it would be to exist in that state.

I also disliked how the main point of the FO universe being fucked up because people in general are heavily flawed (and that's what eventually led to the nukes being flung everywhere), got corrupted. Now, instead of widespread human greed, callousness, and myopia that led to the war, it's because Vault-Tec gambled on there being profits after a nuclear war is started, and therefore triggered it.
