Amazon Studios to develop series based on Fallout

The only slight smirk this got out of me was when it was revealed the Fredrick Sinclair was an extreme ugly bastard.

No wonder Dean Domino was so butthurt Vera Keyes chose Sinclair over him. I'd be mad too.
Wasn't Fredrick "introduced" by Dean to Vera? I thought the plan was for him to get any pair of legs to screw him over because Dean just straight up hated Sinclair for some reason, and Vera just happened to have blackmail on her. Dean's only goal was the money and humiliation of Sinclair, he never cared about Vera(or anybody else really, if his depiction in Dead Money is of any indication).

I understood the BoS and Lucy's motivations for the artifact. But did I miss why the Ghoul wanted it/who hired him? I guess the guys who dug him out really, but who put the bounty out?

I guess the whole story was a mess.

Couldn't care less about muh lore (Fallout is not high art, everyone calm down) but holy shit what a mess of writing that first episode is. What is with Amazon series and needing to introduce every single character and plot arc from the word go? Brotherhood of Steel scenes are all tell and no show. What happened to suspense or mystery? Effects, sets, make-up, costumes all look extremely cheap. Where is the money going? Acting is all over the place. No one seems to have been given any direction. Goggins basically just doing Justified Lite but at least we have someone in this cast with some screen presence besides Lucy. Why are we starting pre-war anyway? First ep should have focused entirely on Lucy, the Vault scenes were the only ones that had any sort of character. Save the Brotherhood and Goggins for later. All of the dialogue felt like placeholders for something funnier or more eloquent. Licensed music carried most of the tone (tbf this is also true with the games). Extremely overdone slo-mo in the raid scene.

Didn't shock me to see, literally, TWENTY-NINE (29) different producers listed in the credits. For an 8-episode season. Design by committee in the worst way. Does this shit get more coherent?

That's why I quit watching after watching the first episode. It was boring and had more padding than a memory foam mattress. I could have cut the first episode down to 30 mins.

Fat fetish furry Pyrocynical did a video discussing the show. Haven't watched it yet but I think it is interesting because of his comments on the initial 40 seconds.

In something of a shocking twist, unlike other soytubers like YongYea and Cr1tikal he seems to actually have taken the idea of "discussing" the show seriously and done that instead of a flat "yeah guys show good wow many reference it really makes you feel like Fallout" and leaving at that. It's a 78 minute long slop fest where he goes over both what he liked and what he disliked "[...] to explain how GOOD the show is, because it is pretty good. And how TERRIBLE the show is as well.[...]"

Maybe the fact he is br*tish means he didn't get a fat check from Amazon?

Also, is it me or does the make-up on Ghoul-Goggins look like absolute shit? That's probably why his scene was nearly pitch fucking black, to hide that Halloween costume ass hackjob. I've seen more believable zombie get-ups in SNL sketches. Hire the Walking Dead team and do it right ffs it's not like Amazon doesn't have the money.

Against my better judgment I went ahead and finished the show.

It's so flat, no characters have any kind of Arc, maximus isn't even a character he does so little, the whole plot is basically nonexistant.

The humor kinda grew on me but there was no substance underneath it so it was kind of lame

As soon as I saw the ending I knew what kind if show this will be. Nothing will ever get resolved, every season will end on cliffhanger or loose ends. Rinse and repeat. It'll be like lost. These shows suck man. It's designed to hook you and drag you along with no real direction in sight, like Lost.

A sample size of two isn't much to go by, but I do find it interesting how, between Finn in the Star Wars sequels and Maximus in this, "cartoonishly stupid/incompetent black male being led around by a competent brunette played by an anglo actress" is becoming a modern Hollywood stereotype.

@mindlessobserver

Another thing is that the series critiques Government intervention in Industry more than anything else. RobCo and Mr. House were rivals to Poseidon and the Enclave. Vault-Tec was effectively a side project of West-Tek and the Enclave.

The Enclave is basically the end result of Government and monopoly. They aren’t disinterested in the people they rule over, but they have a level of contempt for them. Richardson does show some sense of duty, but it comes off as because of the class he was born into rather than responding the role he assumed. He basically belittles you when you bring up how the mutants of the wasteland aren’t that mutated, he basically says “we’ll trust the/our experts on it”.

"Problem??? He was the one with the problem,"

I'm less concerned with this than I am Bethesda's asspull promo update possibly breaking Fallout London two days after it releases. Shitting on every past game with this show's one thing but knocking over a mod that has the chance to knock over Black Mesa for the title of "most insane total overhaul" is fuckin 9/11 turbo overdrive to me.

All I’ll say is that Chris Avellone, one of the writers for the Fallout New Vegas DLC and such, actually shares the idea that Fallout shouldn’t be Anti-Nihilist, and that the series rebuilding itself from the initial post-apocalyptic setting is a bad call, so it’s not like the show is doing anything new if what I’m hearing is correct.
New Vegas takes place 200 years after the Great War. Which is 50 years from now in the Fallout timeline. Which is enough time to fully rebuild pockets of society after a major world war where everything is bombed. But not enough time to rebuild things like cruise ships and cargo planes and all infrastructure. There is enough time that major factions should be forming again like the NCR or Legion. And these factions if they go to war will try to use the nukes again. It's perfectly logical.

But there is not enough time for another worldwide conflict to happen again. It's all regional fighting and tribal fighting which is the point that Avellone was making. You can't nuke the entire world in New Vegas. Just the Mojave. It's a small scale conflict. The Courier has zero agency over anything outside of the the Mojave. You can't influence the East Coast or Russian or England or Australia anymore because the world is not really connected.

A little late to the thread, but figured I'd share my thoughts before reading what you retards had to say and ruining my mood

Overall score 9/10.
I've been a fallout enjoyer since I first played FO NV back when it first came out. I have logged over 1000 hours across all of the games, my favorite being NV, which has almost half of that playtime. Before FO4 I got deep in the lore, spending dozens of hours pouring over the wikis and correcting information.

The show is fantastic. One of the best that I've seen in a while, regardless of being a video game show. I think the characters are well fleshed out, there doesn't feel like the diversity is forced, and the overarching story is engaging and compelling.

I really liked how they set up Lucy to be a Jane-Doe then have the raider kick the FUCK outta her episode one. Wow, the vault dweller who's never been in a real fight gets rekt despite her years of martial arts training? Damn. Love it. Realistic as fuck.

The Ghoul is the best part, especially in episode 2 where he has that big fight in Filly. Also loved him abusing Lucy and enslaving her. They really don't pull punches.
This show would be a 10/10 for me, except the Ironman style power suit, and the shitty CGI in some scenes.

I really feel like they captured the essence of the games. The prop, scene, and costume work is outta this fucking world. Seriously amazing.

As for the lore stuff, has anyone finished the show and booted up FO4? They changed things. In the game. That's all I'll say.
I love how they're fleshing out the lore in a more believable way. Anyone who's kept up with the lore like I have, knows it's such a fucking mess that they had to do something like this eventually, otherwise they've been written into a corner by retards 30 years ago.
The changes are good.

Bring on the negative reactions, retards. If you wanna argue about lore and retconns I want you to know that your mom sucks me off thru my jorts.

This is the level of intelligence displayed by people who like this show. The average Bethesda goyslop fan. I cannot imagine that you interact with anyone in real life, but that you spend all of your time online. The consumer. Or watching the latest comic movies and television shows. The perfect example of a mindless modern entertainment junkie.

The average Bethesda Fallout fan is basically Intelligence 0, Charisma 0, Speech 0. And probably Strength 0 as well.
