Amazon's Invincible - thoughts?

Well yeah there is that.

He probably should have come up with something before Omni-Man did all those murders... GDA kinda slacked on the contingency plans.
I wouldn't have minded if the scene with him meeting Omni Man didn't end with him very specifically telling the GDA to come up with any counters they have for the super strong space alien that came out of nowhere and told a bunch of obvious lies to them. 20 years of seeing how he fights and looking for vulnerabilities they could use, and all they could come up with was a space satellite and a throwaway kaiju that gave him trouble for 20 seconds?

Somehow managed to watch all three seasons over the past fortnight without getting spoiled in the slightest, bar a few clips of Mark getting his head kicked in by Omni-Man.

Strangely enough, by watching it so quickly I never actually noticed any significant dips in quality. I've never really noticed any issues with voice acting or animation as I just assumed that was the weird style of the show, being a blend of different types of superhero animation. Maybe I'm just niggercattle or retarded, but the tone really hasn't changed, in fact the biggest issues of Season 1 (Anissa) were patched out and the biggest issues in the show are just stupid decisions from time to time that forward the plot. Oh and how nobody dies. It's nothing like say, The Boys where Season 1 was incredible and then Season 2 had everyone's character get flanderised and it became the Billy Butcher show.

I will say this though, I'm surprised the general opinion here is "Mark was right / Cecil was wrong", and while I can understand that keeping Conquest alive is suspicious on first glance, it really isn't when you realise that Mark is being a complete and utter retard who refuses to team up with Cecil who, despite being morally grey, acknowledges that there's an END OF THE WORLD LEVEL THREAT happening and he needs to assemble the best team to take it on.

Like what exactly is Cecil supposed to do? Mark never gave Cecil the information from the books about the Vultromites, the most powerful superhero on Earth is only helping him when he feels like it so why WOULDN'T he be getting contingency plans in order? Plus I disagree that he tried to kill Mark in the white room, Cecil is still human so of course he's fucking terrified of an irrational retard who doesn't grasp that the goal (saving earth) means so much more than any minor moral issue. It was simply to get it out of his system in the off chance that he decides to kill the Titans if he can't kill Cecil.

Plus get this, this Invincible is supposedly the only dimensional version of him that wasn't evil. Cecil needs every contingency plan at his disposal, if Mark was working with him he probably still would have to but surely Mark has to grasp that that's the entire fucking point. Had he worked with Cecil to find a weakness for him then they could have slaughtered the Invincible army attack. They could have beaten Conquest easier. Millions of lives across the Invincible war/Conquest were destroyed because of Mark's unwillingness to team up with the guys wanting to save the fucking planet. It's the sort of retarded superhero logic I'm at this point almost immune to because if Mark was sane then half the fucking show wouldn't have happened.

In fact, I haven't read the comic so I wouldn't be surprised if Mark is left with a moral quandry of Allen + Omni-man trying to take on Vultrom at the exact same time the Vultromites are attacking earth.

I think the newer episodes have been well-received in general, but people here hate everything.

But trying to be self-aware doesn't help me here, I still think it kinda sucks now.

Everything decision they make goes badly because the writers make it happen that way, I mean, what can ya do.

4th season is coming out now and the animation looks horrifyingly mid tier after 5 fucking years. It's entirely because these dumbfucks at Amazon chose to only hire celebrity VA's instead of just regular ones with a wide enough vocal range to impersonate the celebrities and the fact that they had the poor guys working on 3 different seasons at the same time (we know this because of the dates written on released storyboards and panels). This is also why there was a 3 year gap between season 1 and 2 and why the animation for season 2 and early season 3 was complete dogshit by Amazon's standards, not even comparing it to sweatshop produced tranime either so I can be fair. Wanna see why I'm right? Vox Machina, a show literally nobody knows about has better animation and a comparable amount of content as invincible and hasn't had nearly as many scheduling issues.
Whoever has been managing Invicible for these past few years needs to be fired because it's probably one of the few western animated shows that sorta competes with Shounen anime.

I don't know how closely you follow this show. But the production company was caught using North Korean slave labor to animate and color the series. Not a joke or exaggeration. Amazon hired some Chinese outfit to make the show for pennies because they said it was possible to make the series at an extremely low price. Their method was outsourcing the work to North Korea to keep the labor costs at next to nothing.

That's why this show looks like a 90s flash animation done by teenagers.

I'm just gonna say Kirkman is such a horrible manager that I was under the impression Invincible has been dropped already, twice, thanks to his ridiculous idea that he should stop it for a year for no real reason other than he decided that's how it should be. Yes, genius move - stop it cold when the iron's hot and people are talking about it, wait until the hype completely dies before you continue. Fucking moron.

Whenever someone passes out on the animation line the other employees are allowed to eat them. This helps encourage productivity, minimize downtime, and ensures a healthy rotation of fresh blood I mean meat I mean workers, which also reduces problems caused by burnout.

given they have a deadline of a single year to get a season out, i can understand why.
No, it's because they have a small animation team that was forced to work on seasons two, three, and four at the same time at one point. It's retarded and totally raped the animation for season two which everyone in the fandom agrees is by far the worst season in terms of animation. Season three was only capable of being decent near the end because they could not fuck up the conquest fight. Doing so would literally kill the show and make nobody bother to see if season four was any good.
The real solution to the animation problem is to literally just scale up the entire team responsible for animating this and cut almost every celebrity voice acting contract with the exception of the main ones like Steven Yeun. These dumbfucks spend millions on celebrity voice actors nobody gives a shit about and act surprised that people care more about the animation.

The only celebrity VAs I care about are Steven Yeun and J.K. Simmons. Anybody else doesn't matter. Sure, if there's extra money for a one-off that's cool, but the animation is more important than having Zachary Quinton or Sandra Oh or Grey DeLisle. Find some new up and coming VA!

It was incredibly wasteful of them to hire Jesse Bad from Breaking Bad to voice a character they honestly could've cut from the show with minimal impact.

I heard rumors the animation budget was increased for season 4…but given the trailer and sneak peeks, I guess it was just that, a rumor. *sigh* One that was proven incorrect.
