Viltrumite culture is retarded, not even the Saiyans from DBZ would do something as absurd as roll up on their own offspring and viciously try to kill them as a rite of passage.

I do wonder how they even managed to build a civilization in the first place when they don't have families in the traditional sense and they actively try to kill their kids when they come of age. The more we learn about Viltrumite culture the more it makes no fucking sense.

My assumption is they were normal at first but adopted their retard space barbarian ubermensch eugenics culture after they discovered they were the strongest species in the known galaxy. It still doesn't make sense they'd cull their own population since they're already the strongest and only have fewer bodies to throw at a problem as a result.

Between The Walking Dead and Invincible, I think it’s safe to say Kirkman just isn’t a good writer.

He goes for cheap shocks and “subverting expectations” to cover for the fact that he’s just shit at thinking things through to make his stories logical and consistent.

I feel like if a eugenics program dwindles your population so hard that you literally have a ring around your planet of corpses and there's only 50 of you left it crosses from gritty and fucked up to comical and retarded.

There is no way the "rah rah strength is everything purge the weak" logic would run that deep and becomes that self-destructive for a full blown space-fairing civilization with a deep understanding of biology and logistics. They would have to be outright moronic to not think that far ahead.

Like what's the ultimate goal of the Viltrumite philosphy, that there would just be one singular ultimately-powerful Viltrumite left alone in the universe by the end? Clearly not given they have intergalactic breeding programs because their population is too low and the Empire is fraying apart, so what the fuck was the point?

Saiyans in DBZ at least make sense. They venerate fighting and strength because it thrills them on a biological level. It's literally ingrained in their DNA to love the thrill of combat for the sake of it so that became a normal part of Saiyan life.

But they aren't eugenicists, Saiyans with low power levels are bullied and called weak but they aren't culled or purged. Fighting is just a part of the culture, not an active ideological position like with Viltrumites.

For Saiyans becoming stronger is the journey, but for Viltrumites it's the goal. A retarded one, as is obvious.

Bulletproof is a loathsome nigger who killed his own parents, I wouldn't take what he says seriously.
Obviously yeah, but my point was the show writers thought this was needed. Pretty sure this quote isn’t in the comics but I could be wrong. There’s never been a single fucking hint of Cecil having any racist tendencies, and bulletproof sperging about how it’s “white america” falls on its face when you remember Cecil’s predecessor was black.

That wasn't the result of the eugenics program that was the result of them being attached by a bioweapon, did you even watch the episode? Before the bioweapon there were literally billions of viltrumites as part of regular viltrum society, they didn't cull their own population, they were literally attacked by a genocide virus.

like wtf, you literally somehow missed 80% of the plot.

The fact you immediately assumed that I'm just a drooling retard that missed the plot of an episode that came out a week ago without even considering the possiblity that I'm going off of something else is an incredible lack of faith in the baseline intelligence of someone that, as far as I know, you've never spoken to before and honestly it leaves me a little hurt.

I forgot if the virus that killed 99% of them or the purges that killed 50% of them came first, sue me.

I'm just a drooling retard
the "something else you were going off" was that you dreamed it; why the fuck would anyone assume that we have users posting from parallel dimensions talking about shit that didn't happen

thinking you actually watched it and just missed the plot is honestly far more generous than the actual, authentically retarded situation you have manifested

The Viltrum thing could work if it was due to religion, but Kirkman’s fedora was too tight for him to figure that out.

To be fair, the comic really doesn't get into any sort of numbers breakdown about how many died to the virus directly or died in the rumble pit after being weakened by the virus, just that both happened and as a result 99.9% of old Viltrum is dead. It's pretty strongly implied at least that the Viltrumites kept killing each other in the rumble pit while the virus was sweeping through and that the death toll would've been lower if they hadn't.

Thoughts? Just one: I can't fathom why J.K. Simmons would agree to be part of such a boring show. I don't even care about one day, maybe picking up one of the comic books... Alright, then, perhaps that one thought compounded into a few, I suppose...

Ever since Superman's Killing Joker and Taking Over Earth debacle, and almost definitely bolstered by The Boys, and Brightburn, ultraviolent Kryptonian knockoff shite has gained traction in popularity. It feels stale.

Not by any reasonable, non-smarmy redditor metric is "you're misremembering something you saw a while ago" a less generous assumption than "you're a fucking moron that hallucinated over something right in front of you" when someone gets specific lore details wrong.

Ffs man I didn't say "damn it's crazy that Thragg raped Mark and gave him a gay ass baby before hitting the fortnite griddy in the newest episode", I just mixed up the timeline of two lore events, both things that actually happened and were presented simultaneously in the comics, and drew an incorrect conclusion based on that.

I didn't even mention the show specifically, I was just talking about the lore™.

It's a completely reasonable, honest mistake, and something that happens literally all the time. It's like if I thought the Green Goblin killed Mary Jane instead of Gwen Stacy even though MJ and Peter didn't start dating until like 2 years later.

There's a lot of things that we could say to make this shitshow make a bit more sense

>Viltrumites were more civilized (but still elitist conquerors) during Argall's rule
>There never was a culling, but rather a civil war due Argall's assassination
>Viltrumites went full retard after Thragg took over, "Ooga booga me kill son because he was weak... no i won't have another one"

There's ways to "fix" Viltrum's lore, but in the end, it doesn't matter, Viltrum was never meant to be a believable alien society, but rather a representation of toxic masculinity and white nationalism, Kirkman being a fat retard just throws everything her doesn't like at his own lore and goes "See? See how evil and WRONG Viltrumites are!?"

Same shit goes with Eve's dad, that fat fuck cannot even be called a character, he just exists as a mere caricature of what Kirkman thinks conservative parents are.
