I'm fond of wholesome Conquest.

You know, Rotten Tomatoes actually said back when the show started that it had “bold animation.”

….Bold animation huh? With the quality we see it have now?
The animation is awful. Legitimately fucking horrible. Stiff, awkward, and really lazy.
This guy supposedly did this on his fucking phone, and Amazon can't even shell out the millions they're spending for celebrity voice actors no one gives a shit about for a better animation studio or even several.

Yes, but you see, CHUDDIE: this guy actually cares. He's a *shudder* typical plebian who puts in time, effort, and artistry. All because he respects the material he uses! And, worse, wants others to appreciate & see his care via his craft! Can you believe that: respecting the sources & liking your audience. Ugh. Like all other plebian artists, he even employs gay concepts like "foreshortening, dynamicism, key frames, etc."

Amazon & Kirkman know the goys will continue to stream whatever slop presented to them, no matter what. We've seen this time and time again w/many shows. Why hire actual VA's w/capable range & experience when Kirkman wants to rub elbows w/Hollyweird to feel so cool n' special? Why give a fuck about good episode scheduling when they could repeatedly build & kill momentum for shits n' giggles? Why care about animation when this company (just like Disney) just wants things fast, cheap, and easy? Not like the fans give af!

Everytime some troglodyte dares to provide some valid criticism, the horde will silence them real fast.

Honestly, a lot this matchups could be even if Viltrumites used the one organ they seem dimutive in: their brains. It is fascinating how a species that lives for thousands of years, had technologues considered too advanced for most alien life, and boasted a vast empire lacks anything to show for it. No MMA type of fighting, no sophisticated weaponry to aid against tougher foes, no coordinated planning or teamwork, nothing. Not a thing. Kirkman wrote his supposedly superhuman species to be more akin to Neathertals with mediocre powers. No, actually even cavemen would have greater potential than the average Viltrumite!

The only time we see mention of strategy and weapons usage was when Nolan & Allen were going around collecting Viltrumite weaknesses (of which we know are way more than what was shown). Why didn't they just glass Talescria from a distance once the guard was down? Why didn't they create freezer technology to hold Rag'noor's then genetically modify them to work as subservient mitant guarddogs? If the bugs work against them, then they've got to work on some lesser species, why not manifacture chemical defenses? They were damn near destroyed by Thaedus & his Scourge Virus, so you'd think they'd be less willing to throw bodies at their problems. But no.

They can't win against Thor & Prof. X types, but a little forward thinking would help max out their normal stats or boost their chances with others. What a bunch of morons. Did Kirkman write it so they killed all their smart guys during the Purge? Or is it just him being low-IQ?
That's on Kirkman's bad writing and the "show, don't tell" trope he overrelies on.

They are supposed to be millions of years ahead of mankind in tech yet the most advanced thing they can do is a robotic arm? That's because Kirkman can't grasp scientific concepts past "man robot arms are so futuristic and cool", let alone design an interesting weapon.

Viltrumites are supposedly these awesome superpowerful dudes yet their greatest weakness is... Sound? How can they even fly past the sound barrier without collapsing? Explanation: Kirkman couldn't think about anything creative. Even a rock from outer space is more inventive than that.

Anti-superman virus just makes them cough blood? That's because Kirkman can't think about bodyhoror or something that would turn their invulnerability against them. Sick person? Cough blood and faint ofc!

Can you name me one superhero/superpower that is not "X from another seriers"?

I still can’t get over that RT consensus.

In what way is this show’s animation, with all the cheap corner cutting, slideshows, and off model moments, somehow considered “bold”?

Heck, the fact that they wasted an entire episode on filler purely because Kirkman wanted to bring to the screen something he was denied in the comic (for good reason it turns out), leading to even more cost cutting and poor animation, really makes the statement of said animation being “bold” all the more laughable.

Im personally glad they didnt have Debbie just accepting Nolan back because...fuck, why should she? The man she knew never existed or at least it wasnt worth enough for him to challenge his beliefs before starting to act on them. He murdered a shit ton of people, fellow heroes included, many of which she had to personally confront, either to comfort or get blamed for what he did.

Debbie and Mark practically took a lot of the blame for his massacre, fair? Not really but Nolan clearly didnt seem to care enough to go back, turn himself in, tell what he knows about the threat and let himself take the blunt of the hate. He decided to go tap some bug ass and pop a new son, mostly to "relieve stress" ultimately, only to refer to that relationship as a "mistake" to his wife, unironically thinking this would help.

"You dont get it, you arent a pet to me but that bug lady? Oh yeah, she was totally just some bug vag for me to relief some stress from my overwhelmed mind. That bug, who happens to be the mother of your foster son, was a mistake but you arent, honey...! Come on, give this guy a break."

There was literally no version where that conversation didnt end with her reaffirming her hatred for him and making him glad she doesnt have Viltrumite strength and durability because otherwise, those nuts of his were hitting the floor in a gorey mess.

Either in this AU, turns out what Nolan said about Viltrum was true and they really are just a powerful yet peaceful race* or maybe Conquest survived again but the whole thing either gave him memory loss (a classic) or a change of heart (which isnt without merit as he is one of the few viltrumites that doesnt try to paint what they do as anything less than atrocities so he IS self aware)

If there are like, a thousand "X villain turns good or was actually good" fanfictions (especially in DBZ), this is no exception.

*Would that mean that this is Mark's villain origin maybe?
I mean it is pretty bold to release an animated series with minimal animation.

Didnt stop One Punch Man S3

How dare you not join in the 15 minutes of love? You will instead be target of the 15 minutes of hate!

You can tell Kirkmann really wanted to avoid any similarities with kryptonite, with the Viltrumites already being very obviously his kryptonian/saiyan expies, yet he was struggling to think of something that didnt feel like a mcguffin or too convenient.

So "sound" was what he came up with but, ironically, it is a very easy weakness to work with once you have it figured it out and it is through the stupidity of the characters this isnt exploited more.

It's incredible just how far the animation quality has deteriorated over time. Mark and Allen's little scuffle in season 1 is better animated than every single fight scene in season 4, including the supposedly 'epic' battles, such as the one we got in the last episode.

We need a good ending/What If of Mark succumbing to his racial impurity.

Anyway: I'm still sour about the whole training montage resulting in fuck all. He got beaten up immediately afterwards so I was thinking "oh he'll reveal his new strength soon" and he just never did. There's no powercreep in this show, only plot armor. It's like wrestling, they decide who wins and act it out accordingly.

Both The Boys and Invincible are two aight shows based on the most edgelord comic slop imaginable. We need a new name for this kind of dudebro pass random IPs get.

Just buy this guy a mansion with an animation studio and let him produce the whole show. At least theres fluidity to the movement here.

Dammit, best thing I've seen this year and it's still April.

The constant informed insistence on the Vilrtumites being this super advanced race that could improve human life with their superpowerful technology SO MUCH that even the story agrees with them (just with someone else in charge) is so mutually exclusive to everything we actually see of them, because even if you assume they just stole it all from races they eneslaved, it's too consistent and utilitarian in aesthetic for that to make sense, and for it to be a relic from when they were more civilized is even more of a stretch to imagine the purge killing every single one of the actually smart guys when even at their height, their actual conduct is never shown to be any smarter than "send one guy or many guys in a straight line to punch everything in sight with their tard strength" and guys like Robot, the mauler twins, and the reanimen guy FREQUENTLY mog them in terms of onscreen capabilities when it comes to doing stuff that isn't punching people. especially when you see the mauler twins making guns that fuck with your nerves, cloning people and copying minds while the super advanced space empire's only shown medical care for the Scourge Virus was just quarantining everyone in a bunch of beds and hoping their immune systems fight it off.

It also makes their enemies look stupider because if their weakness is a specific frequency why the fuck doesn't Cecil have entire air sirens playing it to immobilize them if it's actually just that simple? He should have just put Conquest in a sound studio or something and that would've genuinely slowed him down for at LEAST a few seconds longer.
Mark put up a better fight during his parental coming-of-age beating than Nolan did
I mean not really? Nolan gave about half as good as he got against his parents while outnumbered and Mark didn't even really draw blood.

I'm confident the reason for that is Kirkman figured they just never needed anything beyond that so they never advanced their tech in those directions, but never considered that would mean they wouldn't have useful tech to give to their slave races because he's an idiot.

Unless this is some epic AI fakeout, I have some very bad news
we all knew it was going to look like shit but this is a new low

The difference between this and the Omniman vs Invincible season 1 finale is astonishing. Why does this fucking show have such bad animation? It looks like a cutscene in a flash game on newgrounds.

I do watch the show, and I generally like it for the most part, but the compositing and the animation is just so lackluster. Even just a bit better compositing, slightly better fighting choreography, or hell just a teensy bit of fluidity in the frames and I’d be a happy camper. Please Amazon.

Slave labor. Or lack of it since they've said they're not using that North Korean studio anymore.
I dunno, man. I've given up on the show having some parts better than the comics at this point. Even looking back on season 1, shit was way too melodramatic. It's just so obvious now because they're dragging the hell out of Nolan's redemption arc and having an "emotional" ten minute scene every episode.

The comic has better visuals than the actual most visual medium's version now.
why am i saying now?
the comic always looked better
yes, even the scratchy dot eyes cheap beginning art
