I disagree. she doesn't.

amberlynn isn't depressed because she's morbidly obese. she's depressed because she doesn't accept herself. amberlynn is and always will be a fat girl. she loves food and to binge. that's just who she is. but she's in denial and makes herself believe she wants to loose weight. that's what makes her depressed. her wants and needs are in conflict. if she accepts her fat life, she'll be happier.

she will never be skinny. even with gastric bypass, she'll eventually gain all the weight back.
Hell, she'll never even get to a point where she can have WL surgery. There's a psychological evaluation that has to be passed in order to even begin the process. There is SO much discipline involved in even getting to a weight where the surgery is possible. Then, she would have to be incredibly disciplined in her eating habits after surgery to avoid complications. After that, all bets are off anyway because that stomach would be stretched back out within a few years and we're back to bed bound town. It's never going to happen that way and since we all know she is not capable of controlling herself, it's never going to happen any other way. She will continue to increase until she either decides to seek professional help (and it will take a team of professionals like dietitians, psychologists, medical practitioners, physical therapists, etc) or takes up permanent residence on pillow mountain.

Or she dies... you know, whichever comes first.

I believe she is sincere about wanting to lose

No. Here is what is going on. She wants to eat. She wants to eat until she feels stuffed, and she wants to eat all day. This part is obvious, and it is why she weighs 541 pounds.

However, she realizes that being so ginormous is limiting her ability to function and move. That bothers her. If she were a porky 290 pounds, she would be happy as a clam.

So, what she really wants is to find a way to lose weight that does not involve giving up all-you-can-eat buffets, daily Cheesecake Factory, multiple Taco Bell runs in a day, bedtime Peanut Butter Cups, pints of Baskin Robbins, et. al. She wants to lose weight only if she can keep eating like she has been.

This is why she games the diets. She heard she could lose weight on one meal a day, so that one meal has to be three meals at the same time. She heard that 10,000 steps a day would help her lose weight, so she counts trips to the bathroom as "exercise". She heard that rice will make you feel full and eat less, so she eats a bucket of rice. She heard that broccoli is healthy to eat, so she will drown it in salt, butter, and cheese. She heard that chicken is a zero point food at Weight Watchers, so she will eat a mountain of sugar-glazed orange chicken.

In this, she resembles a con artist more than a dieter. Give her an inch, and she will take a mile. It isn't about making healthy changes; she doesn't want to change anything. Sure, she thinks she'd be happier 300 pounds lighter (she wouldn't be, but she thinks she would). However, she only wants to get there if she can still eat what she wants.

I do think she wants to be thin. I do not think she wants to lose weight. As in, she wants to become thin, but without any effort or self-control.

The psych tests for weight loss surgery are easy to bluff through, but she would need to become thin enough to go under a general*, which could only be achieved by somebody else denying her food. She will never deny herself food, she does not deny herself anything - she lives from impulse to impulse like the dead-eyed animal she is.

*the amount she would have to lose for this is at the discretion of her surgeon; he is more likely to be lenient if she is clearly going to die otherwise. Which she is, because she has type 2 diabetes and isn't treating it, which means limb amputations and heart attacks.

It's exactly this. She wants to be thin, she does not want to do the work involved in getting there. She has never taken responsibility for herself or her choice once in her life so she always blames her overeating on her usual old chestnuts (Binge Monster, BED, muh depreshun) when in reality, she just needs to begin seeing a therapist and a dietitian. The biggest aversion to that in her mind is that they WILL hold her accountable or drop her. No one in her life holds her accountable. She can't handle being held accountable. Of course, the one time she was held accountable and in a structured environment, she was actually able to lose weight. Instead of admitting her limitations and recognizing that this is going to be incredibly hard, but a journey of a thousand miles begins with one step she doesn't bother trying.

Well she is Princess of Pillow Mountain. It’s the place she should be.

Not following diet requirements and restrictions after surgery can be very dangerous. She will probably fall in that category. In a nutshell she will dead sooner than later surgery, no surgery and gaining. Or gorl is doomed.

My point that is addicts sincerely hate the cycle. They also love their DOC. You’ll hear some alcoholics talk about all the ways that they tried to manage their drinking . “I just need to get through the holidays, then I will stop.”, “I will only drink on weekends”, “I’ll only drink the expensive stuff so that I buy less.”. These are all the ways that people try to rationalize something that once is in them they have zero control over. Try to not have the shit that comes along with their addiction while still trying to moderate. It cannot be done. The denial is big too. They never think that this last binge or bender will kill them. She plays the same games with her food addiction.

She needs to really get a hold on it before any of her efforts will materialize.

I am going to double down and say that AL’s mind does not want to stop eating everything that it thinks of, but I believe who AL truly is in her core does want to be healthy and doesn’t want to die like this. Her biggest obstacle is that she listens to her brain and believes that if she thinks it, it is the right and only answer.

She's actually 59 lbs away from 600, which is why she's appalled by the accusation

The same way she was apples at it being said that she was 500lbs when she was 499

It's amazing how much faster she's started gaining since hitting 500. Like some kind of panic set in about how much she has to deprive to lose and the very thought makes her so afraid she has to assure herself she can still have food by shovelling it in until she's painfully full, she gains a few more pounds, talks about dieting again and the cycle repeats.

The timing of that epic eating bacchanal in the darkened motel room, when things like deep fried Oreos were magically brought to her bedside via delivery service, was the cannonball that scuttled her already sinking ship. She had just failed a series of weight-loss challenges in spectacular fashion, and then was free to gorge herself as never before. She was so gluttonous that any solidarity she intended to show with the Pride event was shoved aside to fill her cavernous belly. A revolutionary, she will never be...

That episode not only accounted for 20 pounds in raw weight gain in a rush, it threw everything about her off kilter. She doesn't know if she's coming or going now. Her "diets" have become insane fantastical inventions of her own mind, bearing no foot in reality whatsoever. She is in a "screw it" mood, and sees no use in trying; she was never committed enough before to see anything through for a whole day anyway, and she can't be bothered now.

This, coupled with a rapidly increasing sedentary existence, has created a snowball effect. If she is indeed bedbound for real (a notion I am believing until definitively proven otherwise; a backseat trip to get food is not proof enough), 600 will come fast. If she gets a grip, and stabilizes at 541 or wherever it is today, then it will take a little longer. But she is past the point of any hope of return now.

Amber retweeted this last night. I can't imagine she gives a shit about John and Yoko or anything they stood for (except perhaps their infamous 2-week long "bed-in for peace" which is the kind of protest our gorl can get behind) so I can only assume she tweeted this is a metaphor for her love of Orange Chicken.
"There's no reason on Earth why I should be alone without Orange Chicken".

The accountability thing is huge. Remember when Eric mentioned in a video that the whole house decided to hold each other accountable for their food choices? Kiwifarms remembers.

That plan got dropped in a hurry and was never mentioned again. I would have loved to have been a cockroach on the wall to witness how AL reacted the first (and likely last) time Eric or Rickie helpfully and optimistically questioned her whether she really needed to eat a family-sized pack of Reeses Cups in one sitting. I bet that tantrum registered on the Richter scale.

It was obvious from the beginning that that was never going to work out but it was kind of adorable that they thought it could.

They couldn't even do it where Ricky/Eric/Becky were holding each other accountable, because Amber would sabotage the shit out of Becky as soon as she started being successful.

I was thinking about this today, Amberlynn with 70,000 subs has spawned multiple youtube channels with 10,000 subscribers a piece almost exclusively dedicated to talking about her, multiple threads on here with more than a thousand pages total. And hundreds of "fan-made" videos, some that have more views than her most viewed videos on her own channel. How is that possible? A channel with 70,000 subs has more influence on internet culture than channels with 1,000,000 subs? It is truly minded boggling to me and it defies all logic. I'm here for the ride though

Save twinkie beat me to it (ha), but yeah. Their relationship was anything but roses and love shooting out of their eyes. John cheated on her many times and was abusive towards many women in his life, even leaving behind his son with his first wife because he wanted to get him some crazy eyed screaming yoko ono. He put a whole album out whining about how he was soooo sorry for being such a piece of shit toward yoko so she would take him back.

Hey Amberlynn! That's an idea you can take from Lennon. When Becky drops you, you can dedicate a month of videos to saying sorry to Becky on behalf of the binge monster. "Binge monster never meant to hurt you, binge monster never meant to make you cry. Binge monster just a jealous guy"

I notice that most of the reaction channels (Zack, Michael, Potato, Pam being the most prominent, but there are more) have dealt with this dearth of new material by reacting to other people's videos instead, or reacting to old Amberlynn videos. Amberlynn doesn't realize that their reaction videos are what help her stay 'internet famous' (if we can call it that), and now that they seem to have turned their attention elsewhere, it takes her channel out of the spotlight, which may cost her views and AdSense money down the line. There are plenty of morbidly obese lolcows on the internets; the longer she goes dark, the more viewers will get their lulz elsewhere...
