Remember, many states require a home study, even for relative adoptions, Kentucky is one of them. They must show ability to care for a child, physically, financially, and emotionally, according to their laws there.

I am not sure if this is as easy as someone in the Williams family giving a child to Amber and Becky. In many places, this would be a private placement and still require the government to be involved in evaluating the stability of the adoptee family. I think the likeliness that they would be approved is less than zero.

You’d be surprised who the foster care system gives kids to. I knew a kid in school who was taken away from meth addicted parents, only to be adopted by alcoholic hoarders. I’m not sure how the adoption actually played out, but I know a judge allowed her to emancipate at 16, which isn’t easy to do. You’ve got to be in a bad enough situation that working at McDonald’s and living in a rented closet somewhere is the better alternative.

I’ve seen surrogacy ads for anywhere from $17k all the way up to $50k and egg donation paying up to $8k. Unfortunately, there are plenty of ways for a slob like Amber to get access to a child in order to fill their narc fantasy.

I don’t think they’d ever really go through with it though. Like I said, it’s a fantasy, just like her fantasy of losing weight and getting married. The thought of the end result is nice, but both Amber and Becky are too stupid/lazy to do any of the work required to achieve any of these things.

At most, I could see them going through with a quick courthouse marriage for financial reasons. But organizing an actual wedding and reception? No lol. We have to remember that everything that Amber plans is aspirational at best or plain fantasy at worst. This is why everything she does has a great planning video at the beginning then nothing happens. It is quickly forgotten or rescheduled for a later date. CurvyCaloriies, Noom, Optavia, attending university, having bariatric surgery all sounding great when she mentioned them but suddenly, she realized that she would have to actually do some work for fulfilling them. She can't even get off the starting blocks.

The wedding, if there is one, will be the least difficult at the courthouse with the reception at the flat from online ordering from the Cheesecake factory. As you said, adopting a child, even from her family, would be hard work. Hiring a lawyer, dealing with the scrutiny of government agencies, and other necessary steps would be far too difficult for her.
